City Seeking Boards and Commissions Applicants Bryant Appointed as The City of Fayetteville is seeking applicants for several boards and commissions, including the newly added Residential Rental Property Review Board. The Residential Rental Property Review Board needs seven volunteers to serve. The board will hear appeals from an owner of residential rental property who is required to register, due to disorderly activity and/or whose registration has been revoked. The members of the board will be representative of the residential rental, tenant and homeowner community. Other boards and commissions that need applicants are the Airport Commission, Board of Adjustment, Board of Appeals on Dwellings and Buildings, Human Relations Commission, Metropolitan Housing Authority, Planning Commission, Public Arts Commission, Public Works Commission, Senior Citizens Advisory Board, Fayetteville Advisory Committee on Transit, Wrecker Review Board and Zoning Commission. Applicants must be Fayetteville city residents. Applications can be emailed to cityclerk@ci.fay.nc.us, faxed Interim Police Chief The Fayetteville City Manager has appointed Katherine Bryant interim police chief. Bryant took over as chief of the department on June 18. Current Police Chief Tom Bergamine has announced his retirement effective July 1, but plans to take leave time beginning in mid- June. Bryant has served with the Fayetteville Police Department for more than 25 years and as an Assistant Chief was most currently assigned to the Campbellton Operations Bureau as the Bureau Commander. "I am impressed with Chief Bryant's experience and education," says Interim City Manager Kristoff Bauer. "She has an extensive background in policy development and compliance and has played a central role in seeking and maintaining the department's accreditation. Chief Bryant's administrative knowledge, leadership skills, and procedure development experience make her an indispensable asset to the team." Bryant began her career in law enforcement after graduating with a BS in Psychology from Fayetteville State University in 1987. After completing Basic Law Enforcement Training she was promoted to sergeant in 1991. She worked as a patrol squad supervisor in the patrol division and later as the Service Staff Unit Supervisor, supervising the budget, payroll, and planning functions, as well as serving as the department's accreditation manager. Bryant was promoted to Lieutenant in 1995 and served as a Watch Commander in the patrol division. In 1997, she was assigned to the Chief's of Professional Standards and Inspections.
