There will be homemade pizza cooking, cookie decorating and a small 4-H festival. Cost is $3. The 4-H Summer Adventure concludes with Cool Crafts on Aug. 21-22 for 18 on July 16-19. The event, held on the campus of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, is for teens interested in citizenship, state, national and international affairs and leadership. The cost is $280. All fees must be paid at the time of registration. Cloverbud Arts & Crafts for ages 5 through 8 will be held Aug. 7-8 for a $10 fee. Entries will be submitted to the Cumberland County Fair. The Linus blanket activity is Aug. 9 for ages 9 through 18 and blankets made will be donated to military youth whose parent or guardian has recently been deployed. The Back to School Bash is Aug. 16 for ages 9 through 18 and will cost $3. There will be games, The Cloverbud Back to School Bash is Aug. 17 Offers Summer Adventure for Kids The Cumberland County Cooperative Extension's Youth Development 4-H Youth Development Program Mable Murray, a Cumberland County 4-H volunteer leader for 17 years, was recognized June 18 by the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners for her contributions to youth development. Murray was presented with the Cumberland Cares Recognition Award during the board's regular meeting. During the years, Murray has led Volunteer Honored for Service the Murray 4-H Club and encouraged 50 youth to participate. She also volunteers though the North Carolina 4-H Achieving Continued Education (ACE) Master Volunteer Program. Murray earned the highest level of recognition within that program and now specializes in assisting with the 4-H presentations program. Murray recently received the N.C. 4-H State Volunteer Award at the N.C. 4-H Volunteer Leaders Conference. In nominating Murray for the award, Angela Shaver, the 4-H and Youth Development Extension Agent, cited Murray's "caring nature, her heart for Murray speaks to Commissioners children and her constant smile." each event is seven days prior to the event. This includes all public libraries. classes of scholarships for the children of deceased, disabled, combat or POW/ MIA veterans. Each scholarship grants a minimum of eight semesters of tuition and fees at a public university in North Carolina. Some of the scholarships include a stipend for room and board.
