To Be Held During 4th Friday Event The Cumberland County Public Library & Information Center will host its annual Local Authors Showcase during 4th Friday, June 22. The public is invited to meet and learn more about some of our area's homegrown authors from 7:00 p.m. - 8:45 p.m. in the Pate Room of Headquarters Library located at 300 Maiden Lane. The Local Authors Showcase will also provide an opportunity for aspiring writers to learn about self-publishing from other writers. Books will be on sale, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Friends of the Library. The local authors who will be at the showcase are Michael Potts, Sharon Murphy Yates, Michael Colonnese, Hope Ward, Andy Bethea, Suzanne Farrior, Antinea Carpenter, Robert Gable, Lance Limett, Carrie Daws, Christy Judah, Adewunmi Lewis, Dwight Brown, Fred Whitted, Hyacinth Joseph, A.C. Warneke, Catherine Poole, Dorothy Hughes, Anthony Paul Castillo and Leslie Miklosy. Rides For Eligible Rural Residents The Community Transportation Program provides transportation to eligible rural residents for trips to school, shopping, work, and medical appointments for non-Medicaid riders. Transportation is provided Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. for $2.25 per one-way trip. To learn more about the program, or to apply, call 910-678-7675.
Residents must be approved as an eligible client prior to using service. Transportation requests must be made no later than 12 noon the business day before your requested transportation. Same day rides cannot be scheduled. When calling to schedule transportation, please have all pertinent

Elementary Students Win Awards For Air Quality Poster Contest
The Cumberland County Public Library & Information Center is offering a Summer Reading Club this summer for children, teens and adults. The program runs through July 31 and is available at the Headquarters, West Regional, Cliffdale, Bordeaux, North Regional, Hope Mills, East Regional and Spring Lake branches.
