DePauw Phi THE I N D I A N A Z E T A C H A P T E R O F P H I D E L T A T H E T A SPRING 2016 I n our fall newsletter, we reported that last year was the most award-winning year for Indiana Zeta. The undergraduates were able to feel pride from the recognition as DePauw's only Chapter of Excellence while also placing the Gold Star and GHQ trophies in the card room trophy case. Recognition for practice of ritual, philanthropy, alumni communications, and several individual awards rounded out their haul. In addition, you received recognition as 446 Anderson Street was named House of the Year by Phi Delta Theta! I say you because alumni, like you, made the facility improvements possible. What did our undergraduate brothers do with this? They came back to campus with great pride, energy, and purpose. Then they went to class and the Chapter GPA rose to third place and exceeded the all-men, all- Fraternity, and all-University averages for the semester. They used all of this as ammunition to secure the largest pledge class on campus and top the century mark in members. After pledging 32 men, 105 now wear azure and argent on the DePauw campus. The alumni leadership is preparing for both short- and long-term plans for both Indiana Zeta and the Chapter House. As Chapter positioning and strength improves, so must our expectations for them and ourselves. More awards and continued scholastic and campus excellence are a given—so too is care for the facility. There are always furnishings, painting, flooring, and such to update each year. To remain competitive and provide greater comfort to our undergraduates and staff alike, the House Corporation hopes to add air conditioning in other areas of the Chapter House and eliminate window air conditioning units. We'll then address adding more historic-looking and energy-efficient windows to the original house. Brick and mortar work will always be in front of us, as is increased funding for Phi Delt scholarships. As we approach 2018, you'll hear more about sesquicentennial celebration plans. Please let either of us know if you'd like to help with this celebration. So that we retain our competitive position on campus for generations to come, Indiana Zeta never rests, and we thank each of you for your support.
