CHAPTER GRAND
David "Jay" Pirtle '79 entered Chapter Grand on September 11, 2015. Jay was an active member
of Irvington Methodist Church and a 1975 graduate of Warren Central, where he was an all-county
fullback and was selected as Marion County Christian Athlete of the Year by the Fellowship of
Christian Athletes. Jay was the founder and owner of several small businesses, and later worked
for the City of Indianapolis as a consultant to Mayor Steve Goldsmith. Jay was also a Navy veteran
and captain in the National Guard. He is survived by his parents, Nancy and Joe; brothers, Dough
and Drew; and dear friend, Lois Mclean.
ALUMNI NEWS
William M. Dugan Jr. '57 was
among the founding members of the
Community Cancer Care outreach
program in 1983, which provides
cancer care in rural settings to prevent
patients from having to travel. Because
of this, William was presented with a
plaque to show gratitude for his vision
by hospital CEO Dennis Weatherford.
His wife, five children, and two
grandchildren are DePauw graduates as
well. "Greencastle has a special place
in my heart," he says.
