TAU CHAPTER OF THETA CHI FRATERNITY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA TAU TOPICS Spring 2016 T au Chapter of Theta Chi is quickly approaching a historic milestone. Our Chapter was officially installed on September 29, 1916, which means that the Fall 2016 semester will mark the 100th year of Theta Chi at the University of Florida. In that time, Tau Chapter has initiated more than 2,500 men. These men were recruited to Theta Chi because they were scholars, leaders, and gentleman. Our fraternity aided their educational endeavors and encouraged their drive to serve their community. Our brothers have contributed millions of dollars to philanthropic endeavors and given countless hours in community service. We encourage our members to serve the University and student body during their time as students. Theta Chi has produced presidents of the student body, Florida Blue Key, Interfraternity Council, Student Senate, and countless other campus organizations. In 1957, our brothers came together and built the first Chapter House on UF's Fraternity Row. Then 50 years later, when that house was no longer up to the standards of our men, we once again came together and built another state-of- the-art Chapter House that is the finest ever built at the University of Florida. It has served as a home away from home and a living, learning, and leading center for generations of young men. Through the experiences shared at Theta Chi, our brothers went on to become doctors, lawyers, teachers, soldiers, businessmen, community leaders, and one was even elected as governor. This is a proud history that I treasure and am humbled to share with each and every one of you. Tau Chapter has a history and legacy that deserves to be celebrated. I hope you all will join us on September 2 and 3 to celebrate our Centennial. We will be hosting a formal banquet on the evening of September 2 and a game day barbecue at the Chapter House on September 3. More details and a formal invitation will be forthcoming. As always, thank you for your support, and if there is anything I can ever do to be of assistance, do not hesitate to ask. Fraternally, Kevin Reilly '04 President, Theta Chi Realty Board of Gainesville kevin.f.reilly@gmail.com Theta Chi - Tau Chapter to Celebrate 100 Years at University of Florida Brothers, Join Us September 2-3, 2016 I n 2013, Tau Chapter proudly announced the completion of our capital campaign to fund the building of our new Chapter House. More than $1,877,735 was committed by our loyal alumni through generous pledges paid over five years. To date, we have collected $1,262,496 toward pledges and expect to receive the majority of the funds by 2020. However, as of March 8, $290,614 is past due in pledge payments. We undertook the tremendous building project trusting that pledges would be paid in full to help complete the project. Thus, the support of the campaign remains as vital now as it was when we announced. UPDATE YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION Many brothers chose to make monthly or yearly online payments to pay their pledges. As credit cards expire or are replaced, it is important to update your new card information to keep your pledges on schedule. Visit www. ufthetachi.org/donate-now to find your online giving form.
