CHAPTER ETERNAL
Lloyd E. Eggers '51 passed on to Chapter Eternal
on April 26 at the age of 84. Following college, he
served in the U.S. Army for 12 years. He returned to
Sarasota and was in business with his father at Dixie
Lee's, first serving as manager then later as owner.
Music remained important to him throughout his life.
Lloyd was a member of several bands throughout the
Sarasota area. He will be greatly missed.

Nathaniel L. Storms '44 enjoys playing golf at the
age of 89. He and his wife, Alice, live in Valrico,
Fla., and are celebrating 66 years of marriage.

Marvin L. Ivey '51 volunteers as an
academic tournament judge and has served
on the Pinellas County Scholarship Fund
Board since 2007. He and his wife, Bette,

D. Allen Strickland '53 has worked in many
locations throughout the U.S., as well as in Egypt
and Thailand. Upon retirement, he and his wife,
Jacqueline, bought an Airstream travel trailer and
have toured the U.S. and Canada. When they are not

Robert R. Harris '59 completed an item on his
Gator bucket list this year. He has seen UF play
in all 14 SEC stadiums, including the game at
Athens. This year, he attended games with George

Gary S. Houp '69 and his wife, Sherri, took their
travel trailer out to central Texas, where they visited
Ken Houp '64 and his wife, Debbie, in Austin and
Gary Nazaruk '70 and his wife, Nancy, in Boerne.
When they are not traveling, they live in Niceville,
Fla., where Gary is a physics teacher at South Walton

Charles J. Lechner '72 is enjoying retired life and
spending as much time as he can with his 3-year-
old granddaughter, Elin Lechner. He and his wife,
Kathy, have been married for 39 years and they
both enjoy getting back to Gainesville, Fla., as often

L. Albert Hon '78 retired after 30 years with
Florida Rock Industries. He and his wife, Charlene,
have been married 30 years and live in Jacksonville,
Fla. Albert is president of the Orange Park Sunrise

C. Whit Blanton '82 left his consulting business
in June 2015 to become the first executive director
of the newly unified Pinellas Planning Council
and Pinellas Metropolitan Planning Organization.
He is responsible for countrywide land use and
transportation planning, based in Clearwater, Fla.
His daughter Melanie is a senior at UF and his
daughter Amelia is a freshman at FSU. Whit and
