As a member of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute soccer team, his tight schedule kept him away from formal recruitment. However, his teammate Chris Riismandel '95 (A1356) quickly changed his mind. After practices and games, Chris would bring John over to the chapter house for a meal. While they missed dinner time, Renzo DeMeo '92 (A1327) would always save the two a plate. "Without the chaos of formal rush events, I got to witness the real brotherhood. Seeing such a well-rounded group of individuals was inspiring," John says. "Excellence in academics, athletics, social events, and philanthropy—all I can say is that I'm glad they felt I should be given the chance to be a part of it." (Continued on page 4) Work focused on the elimnation of water infiltration in the basement, asbestos remediation, structural repairs, repairs to the house's oak staircases, and renovations to the rec rooms, hallway, and chapter room in the basement. Also accomplished were renovations to the first-floor formal room, dining room, and foyer, as well as upgrades to fire safety monitoring systems and audio-visual infrastructure. Check out the photos on pages 1 and 3, and view more on Alpha Chapter's Facebook page. Thank you, donors, for making this possible!
