Make the Chamber Your Business Advocate Small businesses today are often faced with the difficult challenge of advocating their business. Limited budgets and resources can hinder any small business and prevent it from growing. It's a goal of local chambers to help advocate for small business owners through networking events, programs, and committees. In addition to helping advocate for local, small businesses, being a chamber member increases credibility. A 2012 study conducted by the Schapiro Group shows that 49 percent of consumers were more likely to think favorably of a business if it is a local Chamber member. One local business that has benefitted from Chamber membership is K3 Enterprises, a Service Disabled Veteran Owned defense contracting company focusing on technology introduction, technology integration, technology training, and technology sustainment. K3 Enterprises works with the Department of Defense, and has received national recognition with awards like a Top 300 Small Business of the South and ranking 559 in the INC 5000 Owner Brian Kent began his membership in 2008 and has been an active member ever since. As a small business owner, Brian saw the value of the Chamber on a local, state, and federal level. He is highly involved in the Chamber, serving as a board member and sitting on the Government Affairs Committee. Part of the Task Force 2025, Brian helped to lay out the direction of the Chamber over the next decade, which was heavily focused on business advocacy and programs that enhance members' business growth.
