4A Daily News – Thursday, March 15, 2012 Pastimes The last concert of the season from the Tehama Concert Series features Il Voce performing at the State Theatre on at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 19. Il Voce puts a fresh face on the global phenomenon of the genre labeled "Clas- sical Crossover" or "Popera." Their amazing sound is created by the combination of these four voices and complimented by a beautiful and distinc- tive look. Bringing passion and virtuosity to their unique interpretations of roman- tic, classical, pop and opera favorites, simply put, Il Voce is "The Voic- es." There has been a venue change for this concert. It was to be held at Red Bluff High School's Performing Arts Center, but due to technical difficulties, it has been moved to the State Theatre, 333 Oak St. in Red Bluff. Arts & entertainment Classical crossover vocalists to perform Atrists judge children's art Members of the Red Bluff Art Associa- tion judged the Children's Art Contest "Under the Sea," spon- sored by the Tehama Coun- ty Arts Council on March 8. The associa- tion provided award ribbons for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place win- ners, plus two Honorary Mentions in each of the four divisions, adding a special ribbon for the Best of Show. "The artwork is fantastic," said Connie Maxey, pres- ident. "Tehama County is fortunate to have quality art teachers with great student participation. It's impres- sive." A Young Artist's Reception is to be held at the State Theatre, 333 Oak St., Red Bluff, Saturday, March 24, in conjunction with TCAC's annual Missoula Children's Theatre, this year presenting "The Little Mermaid." Admission is free for Tehama Concert Series Shasta Community Jazz Big Band The Shasta College Division of Arts, Communications and Entertainment pre- sents the Shasta College Community Jazz Big Band in Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, in the Shasta College Theatre. The Community Jazz Big Band is a true large size jazz big band consisting of 22 musicians who will perform big band jazz from the 1930s through 2011. Included will be music by Count Basie and other jazz notables. Styles will include Swing, Blues, members and $20 for adults, $10 for students Latin Jazz, and Ballads. The concert is cre- ated for the entire family and for all ages to enjoy. Performance tickets are $3 general admission and 80 percent of the ticket sale profits are used to purchase music for the Community Jazz Big Band. This gala will be presented for two nights only – Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m., in the Shasta College Theatre.
