Spring is a few days away yet, however, the warm weather and the sunshine have said goodbye downtown including our prized Dogwood trees. This is an exciting time for downtown, so here are some tips to help you plan for the upcoming months!
Downtown Fayetteville Farmer's Market
so be on the lookout as dates are announced. Also, if you are a farmer, backyard gardener or even a crafter, the Downtown Fayetteville Farmer's Market is accepting applications downloadable on their website, along with rules and regulations governing participation. Visit the Farmer's Market website at www.fayettevillefarmersmarket.com. Of course, if you need to get started with your garden, try the Farmer's Market for seedlings or even Bell's Seed Store at 230 E. Russell St. for all of your gardening needs. They have experts on hand to get you started. Whether you are planting a rose garden or wanting to grow your own veggies and herbs, their staff will get you going in the right direction. And if you want to be particularly fashionable, Holmes Gifts at 127 Hay St. has a line of gardening gloves in fun, frisky colors and lawn decorations to liven things up.
Don't forget, too, that the Fayetteville Community Garden leases 120 plots to those wanting to grow healthy food seedlings and tryout your new gardening gloves. For more information or to reserve a plot, call the Sandhills Area Land Trust (SALT) at (910) 483-9028.
Fayetteville Dogwood Festival
Fayetteville Farmer's Market is Saturday, April 21, which is not a moment too soon due to the demand for all things green and organic. The hours and location are the same as last year: Wednesdays from 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fayetteville Area Transportation and Local History Museum at 325 Franklin St. Twice a week, the courtyard of the restored 1890 Cape Fear and Yadkin Valley Railroad Depot hosts tents and tables of locally operating farmers, to the delight of customers looking for locally grown produce, honey, eggs,
This year, they will be setting up on 4th Fridays with music, as well as adding pony rides, sno-cones, chef demonstrations and family days,
