A great time was had by both our outgoing seniors and alumnae. Willie Shafer '53 was so kind to open her home for the ceremony and reception. Hall of Commitment allows our collegiate seniors to understand their commitment to Alpha Chi Omega and learn about alumnae opportunities. Their four years in college may have come to an end, but our sisterhood is for life. Staying involved with an ACW alumnae chapter near or far will allow for legacies to live on. Additionally, we'd like to extend a big thank-you to the members of Kappa Kappa for your support. Your alumnae membership dues allow for us to continue offering wonderful events such as HOC for our Xi members. Our next local alumnae event, Amy Day, will be held in Lincoln October 2-4. Amy Day will honor the life of our founding sister, Amy DuBois. For Kara, Alpha Chi Omega wasn't even first on her radar. She was a legacy at Kappa Delta and an honorary legacy at Chi Omega. "My parents expressed to me that I should pick the one that fits me and not to feel obligated to join the ones I was a legacy at just to make them happy," Kara said. Although Laura and Giana had the strong familiarity of Alpha Chi Omega, both women tried to keep an open mind throughout recruitment. "Each day we went through recruitment, we both said we did not know what we would be picking," Laura recalls, "After day three, we both knew ACW was the place for us!" The two cousins quickly became best friends, sharing many of their ACW experiences together. "Not only was my sister now a sister in the bond, but I learned that my best friend in the whole world, and still is, is my cousin, Laura," Giana says. "I think we would have gotten close just by going to UNL together, but Alpha Chi pretty much made us inseparable for much of my college career." Kendra said she was fortunate enough to be in the house at the same time as Laura, Giana, and Rachel, which really strengthened their family bond.
