The House Corporation and the OU actives really appreciate your generosity. We have started and completed several very large projects in the last five years, including carpet for the entire house ($87,000), an upgrade and expansion of the parking lot ($96,000), replacement and upgrade to the downstairs air conditioning units ($57,000 plus $20,000 in duct work, etc.), a new boiler and hot water heater ($123,000), and major upgrades to our security and fire protection systems. We are also still working on replacing all of the windows in the chapter house. We have completed the front (upstairs and down) and all of the first floor except seven windows. We will do those windows this summer. We expect this project to be complete in three years. This also has upgraded the security on all of the first-floor windows. We are also doing the same with the outside shutters, replacing some each year. In a recent meeting, someone asked if we should wait to start a project until we have enough money to complete it entirely. She continued by saying that she did not want it to be half- completed and stopped. The House Corporation is committed to finishing the projects we start, just like we are continuing to replace windows and shutters. The members of Theta Gamma have provided the House Corporation a list of house projects they would like to have in the near future. We appreciate their enthusiasm and the thought they have given to their requests. We have gotten estimates for each project. In recent years, we have asked for donations to the annual fund. We are always happy with donations. This year, we are going to provide a list of what our actives have requested, and are giving you, as an alumna, the opportunity to contribute to a specific project. We suggest that you find friends, pledge sisters, relatives, etc., to make a large enough donation to cover the cost of the project. The House Corporation's summer funds are already committed to regular maintenance, fairly major repairs to the inside sprinkler system (required by fire marshal for us to continue living in house), and the remodeling of a bathroom. Below is the list from the chapter and the House Corporation. Please help us by getting a group together, perhaps your sisters, nieces, pledge class, or just a group of very good friends, to make a donation to cover one of these items. We appreciate your generosity! If you want a list of your pledge class and their contact information, please contact us at ou-tridelta@cox.net or call Marylee Strange '73 at (405) 623-6687. We have a current Theta Gamma master list from nationals and permission to use it for our fundraising activities. We hope you will consider contacting a sister today. Loyally, Theta Gamma House Corporation H New bedroom furniture in the two larger upstairs rooms. Each member has a bed, desk, and lingerie dresser. We will need 40 sets of this furniture, but can do two sets at a time. Cost for two sets: $2,000 H Built-in bunk beds in the middle hall. There are 13 rooms. We can do this one room at a time. Cost for each room: $1,500 H Built-in day beds in the annex. There are 11 beds in the annex. We can do this one bed at a time. Cost for each bed: $850 H Replacement of the desktops in the annex. The desks still have the original blue desktops installed in the mid-'80s. We want to do this all at the same time to assure we can match the material. Cost: $3,500 H Flat-screen TV for the informal living room. We want to wall-mount this. Cost: $2,000 H Cushions for patio furniture on Delta Beach. Cost: $1,500 H Reupholster two red sofas in the informal living room. We want to keep these sofas as they fit this area perfectly. Cost: $5,000 H Refinish the formal living room ceiling. It is the room downstairs with a popcorn ceiling. Cost: $4,000 H New shutters. We are doing some of these each year. These can be done in groups. We need a total of 18 shutter sets; seven of these are large. Some shutters have been replaced in the last several years, and the Delta Beach shutters were replaced in the fall. We can do the seven on the front porch for approximately $2,000. The rest would be $1,800. Cost to complete all: $3,800 H Wash the rest of the outside shutters and make minor repairs to some, which are fairly new but just need cleaning and touch-up. This needs to be done. A good power washing will really look nice. We do the front porch area every year, but we need to do the entire house. Cost: $2,000 H Three new trees to update the front yard landscaping. Cost: $2,000 H Move the bicycle rack off of Delta Beach to a newly poured concrete pad by parking lot. Cost: $300 Please submit your contributions in a timely manner as school ended May 9 and the undergraduates move back into the house at the end of July for recruitment. The 10 weeks of summer go by quickly when there is much work to be done. That leaves us about 10 weeks to do all the work for the summer and have time to get everything cleaned up and ready for move-in day. This list seems large, but please remember that we have more than 320 members using the chapter house, 95 members living in the chapter house, and 3.3 acres of land to landscape and maintain.
