Julia Viera '45 is an 88-year-old tennis player living on Coronado Island, CA. She insisted upon returning to OU in 1944 and to go through recruitment there because, in the midst of WWII, her father, a Navy flight surgeon, was posted at the Norman flight training base. Wartime travel was so difficult and uncertain that her parents insisted she transfer to a West Coast school. She finished at UCLA and was equally happy at the Tri Delta chapter there, but she always stood up for Theta Gamma at Founders' Day. She moved 36 times with her late husband, from Kwajalein Atoll to the Virgin Islands and points in between. She has one Tri Delta granddaughter (Iowa State) and is hoping for a second when she transfers from San Francisco State. Then she worked in banking as a personnel interviewer and later a loan officer in Los Angeles and Corona, CA, and Austin, TX, until she retired in 2010. She moved to Corpus Christi, TX, to be near her two grandchildren, Chloe (10) and Nicholas (9). E-mail: emscovich@aol.com Martha Foster '67 lives in Atlanta with her husband, Nick Arroyo. After her retirement from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Martha became more involved in Tri Delta's Atlanta Alumnae Chapter, serving as co-chairman of a new Emory University collegiate relations committee. Martha and Nick enjoy traveling in their RV. The retired journalists also enjoy partnering on freelance stories and photos for publications. "I'm still very new to the San Francisco Bay area and Silicon Valley," Julie said. "I'd love to meet Tri Deltas in San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Marin Counties." The chapter raised more than $22,000 at these events in 2014. In addition to our own philanthropies, Theta Gamma members attend events at other sororities to help support their philanthropies. These include Have a Pie at Alpha Chi at Alpha Chi Omega, Food Trucks, Arrows and Ducks at Pi Beta Phi, Kappa Kupcakes at Kappa Kappa Gamma, Pancake Party at Kappa Alpha Theta, and Chi O Cravings at Chi Omega. Last spring, a full bus of Tri Delta actives left Norman early on a Friday morning. The bus was appropriately supplied with box breakfasts and box lunches. When they ladies arrived in Memphis at St. Jude, Emily Blanding '05 met the bus and coordinated tours of the hospital. After the tours, the group returned to Norman having just experienced one of the most rewarding days for their lives. This is just a sample of the activities we participate in each year. And, we still find time to study and have fun! Volunteer Opportunity Available Alumnae, the House Corporation is looking for someone to help coordinate the captions on our online scrapbook. This can be done from anywhere. The only requirement is an Internet connection. Please send inquiries to House Corporation President Marylee Trigg Strange '73 at marylee.strange@gmail.com.
