Fayetteville Area Transportation and Local History Museum lovely EVENTS Discover Downtown— One Museum At A Time January is a cold month, but there is plenty to do and see downtown while staying warm! If you have not been to one of our fantastic museums now is the time to get started. First, the Airborne and Special Operations Museum is one of the crown jewels downtown offering free admission, a main exhibit gallery, four-story tall theater and a motion simulator ride. Walking through the halls, seeing the incredible attention to detail and documentation is inspiring from life-size dioramas to audio and visual displays and worth the time. The grounds also host various events during the year such as National Airborne Day, an Easter Egg Scramble and more so stay tuned for some great family friendly opportunities to explore. Regular museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. More information can be found at asomf.org. Adjacent to the Airborne and Special Operations Museum and overlooked from the new residential Park View is the outdoor North Carolina Veterans Park, which serves as an outdoor museum of sorts representing the five branches of the Armed Services: Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard. Make sure you stop inside the Visitor's Center to access their interactive globe then make your way around the Story Garden, the Community Plaza and around the many factions representing life before, during and after service making up their extraordinary venue. Hours are the same as the ASOM, as the Airborne and Special Operations Museum, is often and affectionately downtown FAYETTEVILLE get in touch...
