4A Daily News – Thursday, October 6, 2011 Pastimes Artists to display at Orchard Festival Red Bluff Art Associa- tion will use their new ban- ners for the first time to identify their booth at the 14th annual Dairyville Orchard Festival held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 at Lassen View School, 10818 Hwy 99E, in Los Molinos. The banners were fund- ed through a grant from the Tehama County Arts Council (tehamaarts.org), California Arts Council (www.cac.ca.gov) and the One Million Plates for the Arts Project. "Working with Robert Rosas, the 'King' of Ban- ner King at 334 Main St. in Red Bluff, was quick, easy and such fun," said Connie Maxey, RBAA president. The Art Association expects to utilize the ban- ners at future events, including Tehama County Art Council's Art Walk on Nov. 4 and 5, and Corning Rotary's Wine, Beer, Food and Art Festival in Febru- ary 2012 at the Rolling Hills Casino. There will be activities for all ages including live music, food, crafts and a variety of activ- ities including a Fun Run to commence at 7:30 a.m. RBAA artists will be displaying recent works in a wide range of media. Also available for purchase will be cards and prints. Parking and admission are free of charge. Pro- ceeds and fees raised through the event fund scholarships for local youth. Fall Art Exhibit in Redding The public is invited to view the Fall Art Exhibit being displayed at Red- ding's City Hall and The Redding Library. Gleim has worked and taught in the floral industry since 1976. Kate owns House of Design, a decorative accessories store specializing in permanent floral design, which is locat- ed in the historic Kraft Library building in Red Bluff. Her program will include elaborate holiday vignettes for Thanksgiving and Christmas. There will be many ideas for creating your own exciting holiday décor, including can- dles, garland, textiles, centerpieces, arrangement and host- ess gifts. European, Japanese and Western design influences will be shown, combines with materials and flowers that run the gamut from Northern California natural to over the top elegant and glitzy. Kate's major at Cal Poly was Ornamental Horticulture with a concentration in Landscape Design. While choosing electives she read about the Floristry program and decided to take a beginning class in floral design, it quickly became a passion. The event starts at 9:30 a.m. giving you time to browse 10 vendors. You will be able to explore their wide variety of wares before Kate's program begins and throughout the day. Glitz, Glitter & Glam centerpieces will greet you as you arrive, available to the lucky raffle ticket holder. Guests will be able to participate in bidding on several large ticket items during the live auction and during the silent auction, you will be given the opportunity to out bid your competitor for dozens of quality items. A plated lunch prepared by Rolling Hills Casino offers a choice of three entrees, Flat Iron Steak, Chicken Roulade Florentine and Grilled Vegetable Lasagna. Tickets are $25 and the public is encouraged to purchase Derek Grinnell, photogra- phy by Stephanie Luke and Vickie Wolf, and ceramics by Patt Causey. At the Redding Library viewers can enjoy oils by Jerry Nelson Stuart, and sculpture by Aaron Eby. This showing of artistry is an extension of the Art in Public Places program sponsored by the city. The exhibit is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fri- days through Jan. 12. The survey of trans- lated and researched Japanese wood-block relief prints from the 1800s to the mid 20th century runs Oct. 7-29 with a curator's talk and reception on Thursday, Oct. 13 beginning at 5 p.m. The museum is in CSU, Chico's Meriam Library and is open during exhibitions Monday-Satur- day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. More information can be found online at The Turn- er's website, www.janetturner.org.
