How can he report my pay- ments to the credit agencies so that my good payment record on this mortgage will boost my credit score? -- Jill, Kentucky Dear Jill: I'm afraid that isn't possible. The CRAs (credit report- ing agencies) will not accept pay- ment history from someone other than what they consider a "qualified creditor." There is a good reason for this. If every private party who was also a creditor tried to report info to the CRAs, they would be swamped with information and would have a difficult time determining what is valid and what is bogus -- i.e., peo- ple trying to boost credit scores with fraudulent information. But don't be discouraged. The way you handle your credit card and the way you pay all of your other bills should be sufficient to build a decent credit score. Dear Mary: I have a pink summer suit that is supposed to be dry- cleaned. It is not dirty, except for the collar where my makeup has rubbed off. Is there some way to clean the makeup off just the collar? Rolo, email Dear Rolo: In a spray bot- tle, mix equal parts Dawn liq- uid dishwashing soap and water. Get a clean white cloth. Spray a small amount directly on the stain. Once saturated, use the cloth to blot the stained area as dry as possible. This should move the makeup from the fabric to the blotting cloth. Be sure to rinse the area well with clear water, being careful to isolate it only to the affected area. Dear Mary: Words cannot express my grati- tude for mentioning my organization, 2nd Step Ministries in a recent col- umn. What a delightful surprise! I prayed for abundance and what an outpouring of love received. I At my current rate, I will reach over three hundred women in Missis- sippi alone by the organization's first anniversary date in February 2012. I am still waiting to receive official notice from the IRS regarding our Mary Hunt Everyday Cheapskate tax-exempt status as a nonprofit cor- poration. In the meantime, I am tak- ing a grant-writing course through my county coalition. Your principles of sound money management have made this possible, as my severance package plus the savings I had in place enabled me to launch of this venture. I believe God works through people, and follow- ing you online for the past several years has truly been a blessing to me. Thank you. I hope you don't mind if I drop you a line from time to time to celebrate God's blessings. Sincerely, Becky Ramsay. Dear Becky: Please do! I look forward to following right along with your progress and what's in store for 2nd Step Ministries. Do you have a question for Mary?
