The Gamman pg. 4 Undergraduates and alumni at the 2014 National Convention. Parents, Alumni, and Undergraduates Experience The Grove at Tailgate in September A lpha Gamma of Chi Psi hosted its first annual parents and alumni tailgate on September 13. Brothers met other members' families and found out more about each other. Alumni had the opportunity to relive their college experience and see what the brothers of Alpha Gamma have built since recolonizing at Ole Miss in the spring of 2013. All were able to experience The Grove at Ole Miss, which many call "the best tailgate in the country," while enjoying delicious food and beverages until the Rebels played the Ragin' Cajuns of Louisiana-Lafayette. The gathering was a great success, and the brothers of Alpha Gamma would like to extend their thanks to all those who attended. Alumni in attendance were Mark Altimier '80 of Cincinnati, Ohio, Steve Barber '77 of Memphis, Tennessee, Robert Gurner '85 of Huntsville, Alabama, Murray Huber '79 of Franklin, Tennessee, David Robinson '79 of Oxford, Mississippi, Rev. Dr. Bob Sharman '80 of Greenville, Mississippi, David Spear '81 of Collierville, Tennessee, Jon Wood '97 of Lexington, Tennessee, and Andy Young '00 of Birmingham, Alabama. We are working on more events for parents and alumni in the near future, where we hope to see everyone again. Excitement and morale are at a high point, with all the brothers excited about the stellar recruitment class we added in September and October—32 in all. It's a beautiful thing to see so many young men interested in the gentlemanly Chi Psi values that we offer. It is also an exciting time because the founders of Alpha Gamma are starting to get older, with the freshmen from the refounding class soon to be seniors. Along the way, we have seen so many Brothers step up into positions and take on responsibility. These Brothers have been a key part in making Alpha Gamma better every single day. Our men know that the job is never done as a Chi Psi. That's just another reason why the Brothers are so excited about the Lodge. There are so many members who are looking forward to having the Lodge because it will be the true culmination of all of the work that our undergraduates and alumni have put into this fraternity. We understand that we have to continue to work hard to improve Alpha Gamma at Ole Miss. That's why we are attracting quality men who want to be a part of a brotherhood that truly exemplifies hard work. Looking ahead, our goal is to have 100 brothers by the end of the 2015 calendar year. Currently, we have 85 members. We also want to improve our overall GPA. Our cumulative GPA is still above a 3.0, but we would like to consistently earn a GPA of 3.0 or better every semester. Finally, the refounding Brothers of Alpha Gamma want to make sure we transition the leadership of this organization as smoothly as possible to ensure those who follow us are fully prepared to lead a vibrant Alpha of Chi Psi into the future. Yours in the Bonds, Ruben Ruiz '15 #1, Alpha Gamma of Chi Psi
