INGREDIENTS 1 pound ground beef 1 large clove garlic, minced 1 can (15 ounces) red kidney beans, drained 1 can(15 ounces) sweet corn, drained 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce 1 can (14 ounces) diced toma- toes with mild green chilies, und- rained 1 package (1 ounces) chili sea- soning mix SAUCE: cup dairy sour cream 1 teaspoons green hot pepper sauce INSTRUCTIONS 1 Heat large nonstick skillet over medium heat until hot. Add ground beef and garlic; cook 6 minutes, breaking into small crumbles and stirring occasionally. Pour off drip- pings. 2 Stir in beans, corn, tomato sauce, tomatoes and chili seasoning; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 20 minutes, stirring oc- casionally. 3 Meanwhile combine sour cream and pepper sauce in small bowl. Serve with chili. Makes 4 servings. Total recipe time: 30 minutes. Arrests SusanLewis: 51, of Los Molinos was arrested Monday at Sanford and Orange streets on suspi- cion of felony possession of a controlled substance for sale, transportation of a controlled substance and outstanding misdemeanor charges of failure to appear and violation of probation. Bail was $38,000. Chai Hin Saechao: 31, of Sacramento was arrested Monday on an outstanding felony charge of possession of marijuana for sale. Quinton Travis McDon- ald: 31, of Red Bluff was arrested Monday on an outstanding felony charge of receiving known stolen property. David Earle Clopp: 25, of Red Bluff was arrested Monday on an outstanding felony charge of possession of a controlled substance. Roger Lee Massie: 44, of Red Bluff was arrested Monday on an outstanding felony charge of possession of a narcotic. Billy Joe Elder: 55, of Corning was arrested Monday in the 2900block of Kirkwood Road on suspi- cion of felony possession of marijuana for sale, posses- sion of a firearm by a felon and conspiracy to commit a crime. Bail was $75,000. Francisco Villalobos- Amezcua: 23, of Red Bluff was arrested Monday on an outstanding felony charge of carrying a concealed firearm. Burglary 18200block of Indian Camp Road: A caller report- ed Monday that unknown subjects broke into a vacant residence in the area, saying a lock was cut and a door was broken. Shots fired 16400block of Lariat Loop: A caller reported Monday that his neighbor in area had been shooting hundreds of rounds. The au- thorities located the source of the shots and confiscated firearms. Police logs In a decision handed down by the commissioner of the general land office in Washington, D.C., for the Sacramento land office, the title to land adjoining the townsite of Red Bluff, recently discovered by those occupying the land to be public lands under homestead by R. H. Rou- selle has been decided in favor of those occupying the land and against Rou- selle's homestead. The de- cision was received yes- terday by John C. Gold is the president of the Atheists of Butte County and coordinator of the Butte County Co- alition of Reason. Gold is noted for his secular ac- tivism in the area — he has been interviewed by Chico television stations and has appeared numer- ous times a guest on Jerry Olenyn's KKXX Christian radio show. After more than two years of negotiations, Gold will soon make the first secular invocation at the Jan. 6, 2015 city coun- cil meeting. Gold will also discuss the Coalition of Reason's atheist billboard cam- paign, which has received widespread attention in the last couple of years. The presentation is part of the Humanist Society's monthly meeting and will be followed by a question and answer period and re- freshments.
