The fall season is such a wonderful time, especially if you are an Alpha Chi Omega. From recruitment and bid day to football games and Founder's Day, this is a very exciting time of the year. Xi Chapter is coming off a phenomenal recruitment, and we are so happy to welcome our 2014 new member class of sisters! The House Corporation board spent the summer working to make the chapter house a great living and learning environment for our collegiate sisters. We gave a much-needed facelift to the kitchen facility by adding epoxy to the floor and walls, re-facing the existing cabinetry, updating countertops, and adding functional storage. We graciously thank all of our kind donors for helping make this long-awaited project come to completion. Upcoming projects include replacing windows in many of the sleeping rooms and purchasing new dining room chairs. We would love for you to stop by and see the house and visit with the ladies that live there today. It is because of you and your support that we are able to continue providing such a lovely, safe and secure home for our sisters! As the calendar year marches toward its inevitable close, I invite you to participate in an alumnae event, join in the conversation through our Facebook group, and make connections with your sisters. I also encourage you to consider giving your time or even a monetary donation to Xi Chapter, the alumnae groups, and the Educational Foundation. YOU are what helps keep us strong. Loyally in the Bond, Katie Belka Becker, Iota Lambda '98 House Corporation Board President katelandb@gmail.com Secure the Future Help Make Our House a Home recently had the privilege to join 1,000 Alpha Chi Omegas in Palm Desert, California, for our 58th annual national convention. Our very own Kappa Kappa alumnae group was presented with a 100-year celebration sash. This was my first opportunity to attend an Alpha Chi convention and I was thrilled to meet other alumnae presidents from around the nation. Most surprising to me during our breakout sessions were the results from a national alumnae survey. The survey showed that there is a percentage of women who believe their engagement with Alpha Chi Omega will not make a difference. As a former member of the house corporation, an active adviser, and Kappa Kappa alumnae president, I cannot disagree with this thought more. We cannot survive without our alumnae and we would love your support now. Alpha Chi can meet you where you are in your life. Some of our alumnae have time to give, some find it easier to show their support with a donation, and some alumnae enjoy attending local Alpha Chi events. Each of these opportunities is equally important in keeping Alpha Chi successful. I challenge each of you to reach out to Alpha Chi in some capacity in 2014-15. If you need a list of upcoming events or need help finding the best way to show your support, please contact me. For now here are a few opportunities to get involved: • Like us on Facebook at Alpha Chi Omega, Xi Chapter Alumnae. • Visit a chapter house. • Join an alumnae group—find a group near you by e-mailing nichole@knotsandtots.com. • Attend an alumnae or collegiate event such as State Day or a recruitment preparation party. • Send a donation to Xi Chapter House Corporation Board, Attention Mandy Fanning, PO Box 93, Ogallala, NE 69153. • Inquire about an alumnae chapter, house corporation board, or advisory position. You, my sister, are important to us and are needed today and always. Please support my challenge.
