Event season is heating up downtown with everyone getting ready for family favorite events such as the Dogwood Festival and Fayetteville after Five. Restaurants are getting new menus highlighting lighter salads, new entrees and other spring fare. Stores are getting in brighter fashions, including new  those all important picnic baskets and yard décor. And now that the weather is a little warmer, the competition is on to get the coveted patio tables and the latest and greatest trend in our downtown shops. Of course, we could talk all day about how wonderful downtown is, but you have to visit to actually experience it! As downtown gets busier, so will you. Come to Downtown Fayetteville with friends and family for a fabulous concert in the park, a stroll through brick lined streets, a lesson at Cape Fear Music Center, The Climbing Place or the All-American Fencing Academy, or to start a   Beads. This is just a sampling of what is available for you and your family. If you have children,   with a cupcake or sweet treat. If you are single, there is no better place for a happy hour social after work or a quick lunch during the day. If you are looking for a romantic date night out, look no further than a cozy dinner and a movie at the  Theater. Ready to Open a Business Spotlight The Blue Moon Café, located at 310 Hay St., is one of  serving up delectable treats in a cool, relaxed atmosphere. With a friendly staff, a wall lined with specialty beers and wines and a spectacular menu, this casual café is a great place to have a nice lunch or dinner. In celebration of Community Development Week, the City of Fayetteville is hosting its second annual Small Business Expo to showcase local small business resource partners and recruit entrepreneurs to open businesses in Downtown Fayetteville. The event, which will include an open house of available downtown properties, will be held on Wednesday, April 13 at the Arts Council, 301 Hay St., Fayetteville, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Immediately following the Small Business Expo from 9 to 11 a.m., participants will be invited to view a select number of available properties from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on a self-guided walking tour. Maps to showcased available properties will be given out at the Small Business Expo to participants.
