Ga m m a n The Chi Psi • University of Mississippi • winter 2014 Alpha Gamma Announces $1.25 Million Campaign to Build New Lodge Nearly $850,000 Raised in Early Commitments from Dedicated Brothers M ore than five years ago while attending the sesquicentennial celebration of Alpha Gamma, we agreed to chair a committee to raise funds for a new Lodge at Ole Miss. Neither Murray nor I understood the full weight of this challenge, but we both believed we could contribute in some small way. After realizing the enormity of this task, our committee and board researched and selected a professional fundraising company that specializes in fundraising for fraternities and sororities across the country. After many meetings with alumni and the Chi Psi Central Office personnel, we came up with a plan and goal for our new Lodge. Fellow alumnus Jon Horton '77 and his committee worked with a national architect to design the initial plans for the Lodge. Our goal as a group is to build a Lodge that will meet the needs of today's students and provide a supportive environment for educational and residential living. The cost of this project is expected to be $1.8 million with a fundraising goal of $1.25 million. With 406 living alumni, our goal will be a challenge and will require a high participation rate from our alumni. We have had strong early interest in the campaign and have been highly successful thus far, securing nearly $850,000 in pledges. As we broaden our reach to all alumni we are confident that we will meet and exceed our goal. During this process, the exciting news of our Alpha being refounded with 45 new actives and 27 new pledges has energized our efforts to a higher level. With guidance from national we have been able to attract quality young men that will allow Chi Psi to grow and flourish at Ole Miss for decades to come. We need to build these young men a new Lodge now! I have had the opportunity to return to the campus over the last few years and enjoyed reconnecting with fellow alumni and reliving old memories. Our goal with this campaign is to provide an environment for our new members to build the kind of memories that are so important to all of us. In the coming weeks, you will receive more information detailing this project and how you can help make a difference. We hope that as we contact each and every one of you that you will consider supporting the effort to build our new Lodge at Ole Miss. With ALL of your support, we will make this happen! Yours in the Bonds, Mark Altimier '80 and Murray Huber '79 Campaign Co-Chairmen
