Cool Gifts for You Favorite Motorcyle Enthusiast by JIM JONES It's time for my Christmas recommendations. Each year, I make recommendations that are good gifts for your motorcycling friends and family members. Of course, the best gift is a motorcycle. Fayetteville has a very good selection of motorcycle dealers and accessory stores. Over the years, the motorcycle landscape has gotten a little bigger and a little more competitive. For new bikes, we have Cape Fear Harley-Davidson and Meridian Motorcycles, which is an authorized Suzuki, Yamaha and Honda dealership. Ray Price has made Fayetteville home for Triumph and Ducati. We also have M&M Leather, which sells Victory and Polarize ATVs and UTVs. Fayetteville also has Cycle Gear, which has a wide selection of parts and accessories. There are lots of local bike businesses that have a good selection of custom parts and accessories. If you are not going to buy a new motorcycle for someone (or yours truly), then here are a few suggestions that may fit your price range. I love my GPS on my bike. Garmin has pulled away as the leader of the motorcycle GPS world. I haven't seen one in any stores in Fayetteville but you can get them online at www.garmin.com. You should expect to pay $400 to $800 depending on the model. A lot less expensive is a smartphone mount. Rammount.com has a great selection for individual phones and can easily be mounted in the cockpit on the handlebars. With winter upon us, there are many who still love to ride. During these cold months, I use heated clothes and gloves. You can spend a wide range of money on these items depending on how far you want to go. You can buy everything from heated socks, pants, jackets, gloves and a variety of controls and power systems. If price is an issue, start with the basics like the control unit and gloves. Both M&M Leather and Cycle Gear have a good selection of this kind of gear. For the Harley folks that love Harley clothing and accessories, Cape Fear Harley-Davidson has a great selection of it all. Just walk in and you will find just about anything for any budget. One of my favorite gifts is the "Spirit" or "Guardian Bell". This is a little bell that is given to friends to put on their bike. The story is that the bell will help keep away the evil spirits to keep someone safe. Remember, that it is not the size or the price of a gift that makes the gift special, but it is the act and thought of the gift. So no matter what you give or get, remember that it takes two people to make this season work. I hope everyone has a happy and blessed holiday season and a Happy New Year.
