FTCC Offers Help to Make College Enrollment Easy by CYNTHIA RODRIGUEZ So, you have made an important decision — to seek a higher education that will provide you with opportunities for a better future. Good for you! Whether you are a recent high school graduate or returning to college after years in the workforce, it doesn't matter when you do it but — more importantly — that you took the first step. Fayetteville Technical Community College offers assistance in making your enrollment into college convenient and easy. FTCC's One Stop Help Center plays a vital role in a student's educational journey by opening doors of opportunity and assisting students in taking their first steps. One Stop is located in the General Classroom Building Room 108 located at the Fayetteville campus. The goals of the One Stop are to educate and empower new and returning students with accessible, informative resources and to remove concerns or reservations the student may have about taking this important step. One Stop representatives — all graduates of FTCC — understand student concerns and are committed to providing the information and guidance needed to make enrollment a smooth process. Students are required to take the self-paced ACCUPLACER assessment. The assessment evaluates the student's current skill levels in Reading Comprehension, Sentence Skills, Arithmetic and Elementary Algebra. The scores determine the appropriate enrollment level for English and math courses at FTCC. Upon completion of the ACCUPLACER assessment, new students are directed to the One Stop, where they receive an orientation and their records are thoroughly reviewed to ensure their admissions application is finalized, official transcripts have been received, and program of study has been assigned. At the One Stop, one-on-one assistance is available, providing instructions on logging in to various communication tools, such as student e-mail, Web-Advisor and financial aid e-forms. One Stop representatives assist students with the submission of the FTCC admissions application and Free Application for Federal Student Aid application and review the student financial aid record to ensure required documentation has been received.
