If collection of loose leaves and pine straw by vacuum truck is
preferred, residents should carefully review the collection schedule
that was mailed to all single-family households the first week of
November. Citizens should not rake loose yard waste to the curb more
than two weeks prior to the first date of collection for their area;
doing so earlier could result in a service notice requesting
containerization.
As the fall progresses, there may be delays in containerized pickup
as the number of bags and carts to be emptied increases. The City
does not have crews operating trucks after dark; if yard debris is not
collected on the regular day, it should be left at the curb for the crew
to collect it the following day.
Containerization includes: 96-gallon brown carts, which are available from the City; another container with
tight-fitting lid and strong handles, not to exceed 32 gallons or weigh more than 50 pounds when full; or sturdy
bags weighing no more than 50 pounds. Yard debris will not be collected from 55-gallon drums, tarps, sheets,
boxes, nylon or mesh bags or other containers.
For more information on loose leaf collection, please see
the City's website at www.cityoffayetteville.org/leafseason;
