Lassen Peak erupts; smoke clouds issue Lassen Peak, 47 miles east of Red Bluff and the only eruptive volcano in the United States, has been in eruption since early this morning. Several local people observed large volumes of smoke and steam arising from the volcano shortly after sunrise. My mind was clearing; positive thoughts were wafting in the pleasant, mild breeze. By the time I reached home I was almost sure I could conquer the world or at least sweep the front porch and the walkway. I started my household chores at a pretty fast pace, then realized that I had not eaten my morning bowl of cereal nor read the morning paper. The computer mail box was full and wouldn't you know it was a startling but welcome message that a picture I had e-mailed did not come through. I made another attempt at getting said picture to its destination. Oh well, my rather old computer is not doing what I would like to have done! So far I have been able to maintain my "beautiful seemingly fall day attitude and I intend to continue my tasks with positive attitude.
