Tuesday, October 15, 2013 – Daily News 3A Community people&events Surviver of Nazi occupation to speak at Corning Patriots Some people call patriots "radical" because they are so stalwart in the defense of the United States Constitution, gun and private property rights, and the right to free speech. Others think patriots are totally crazy for worrying about "a socialist agenda" being pushed on Americans. You can attend the Oct. 17 Corning Patriots meeting and see whether you don't recognize the signs that Nellie Dreschler talks about. Dreschler was a young child in Holland during Nazi occupation and her father spent time in a concentration camp for giving food to Jewish people. The meeting is held at 6 p.m. at the Corning Senior Center, 1015 4th Ave. and is open to the public. Bloodhound is useless in hunt for SP Bandits ASHLAND, Oregon — The train bandits trail is growing cold. rains last night rendered the bloodhounds useless. Though authorities admitted belief the slayers had escaped from Siskiyou county forty officers are continuing the search. The warmest clue was the discovery of a cabin where the officers are certain the bandits boiled the dynamite for "soup" with which they blew the mail car to atoms. Officers are enroute to the University of California with a pair of overalls, gun and battery found at the scene of the holdup. — Oct. 15, 1923 DAILY NEWS RED BLUFF TEHAMA COUNTY THE VOICE OF TEHAMA COUNTY SINCE 1885 VOLUME 128, NUMBER 231 HOW TO REACH US On the Web: www.redbluffdailynews.com MAIN OFFICE: NEWS Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. News Tip Hotline: 527-2153 FAX: (530) 527-9251 E-mail: clerk@redbluffdailynews.com Daytime: (530) 527-2151 Sports: Ext. 111 Obituaries: Ext. 101 After hours: (530) 527-2153 ______________________ ADVERTISING DEPT. The one who has been hurt, left behind, uncertain about who you are now, because you were never told back then. The one who hides their anger, their shame and their dreams because they can't forgive, believe or feel hope. The one who wants so badly to be held, to understand why, to feel accepted. The one who goes through this life half-heartedly believing there is something more and quietly believing they won't find it. Who you are today is in part, based on the decisions, actions and words of others. Others who were supposed to be wise and ready when you came into this world. Others who were supposed to protect you, celebrate you and nurture you, but didn't. Today I speak to you. It is with love in my heart I reach you and say that it never was your fault that they failed. Your birth was never a mistake and not one thing about you meant they were justified in falling short of all that you deserved. It wasn't fate or some misalignment of planets that plopped you into that situation with those parents. Yes, you saw other kids have it better. You could compare your end of the stick and see that it was shorter, stinkier and made no sense as to why? Yes, you made the only conclusion you could, that all things being equal, the only explanation for your situation was you were bad or people were bad or the world was bad. What more could you believe? You were wrong. At some point as a child, you could have been rescued. You could have been plucked up and your symbolically to heal you heart healed and your and help you grieve what mind renewed.
