ChairirSpeaksSpeaks Oyster Roast Still a Go Despite Rising Costs One of the biggest lingering effects of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has been the impact on the sea- food market and the rising price of seafood. Although the Chamber contemplated canceling the Chris Bostock Business ssSpotlightSpotlight Oyster Roast due to rising costs, Chamber President Doug Peters determined that the event was too popular to cancel. This year’s event will also celebrate our local elected officials. Special events will range from a wing-eating contest to a demonstration by new chamber member Riverside Steakhouse and Oyster Bar on how to shuck an oyster. All attendees will receive complimentary oyster knives and towels from Cape Fear Valley Health System. You don’t want to miss this great event that will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 19 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Paradise Acres, 1965 John McMillan Rd. in the Gray’s Creek Community. The event is open to members and non-members. Chamber members tickets are $30, while non-member tickets are $35.
