PRESSING ON I 'm pleased to report that the state of the Xi is solid and relations with the Wesleyan Administration are strong. The undergraduates have been excellent stewards of our cherished Chapter House as well as the traditions, values, and camaraderie we all hold dear. Join Us for Homecoming! Before we recap recent Xi happenings, I want to cordially invite and encourage you to join us on October 25 for a Chapter meeting, football tailgate party, and post-game party with live music at the Chapter House. In the 182 years since the Xi's founding at Wesleyan, it's amazing that we still have a beautiful, historic, landmark home at 242 High Street beckoning us to return. Growth and Success Thirty-four new brothers were pledged and initiated in 2024-25, bringing their total number to 98. The brotherhood's charitable work, athletic and artistic accomplishments, and popular events are too numerous to describe here, and their record of community service, academic excellence, and extracurricular activity has been noticed on College Row. Special kudos to Jack Vigue '25 and Owen Forbes '25 on their induction into the Phi Beta Kappa Society for academic excellence. Chapter House Updates Your alumni leadership continues to focus on maintaining and preserving our historic landmark Chapter House. A highly detailed (66 pages) structural and architectural conditions report has been commissioned and completed, and it found that the house is in "sound structural condition" and "is resilient and has fared well." The report also found that with recommended repairs and upgrades, along with a consistent maintenance program, the house "will continue serving the brotherhood for the foreseeable future." Our architectural and engineering report targets 12 high-priority repair and improvement projects and identifies an additional 24 renovation and repair tasks for our consideration. Priority repairs and upgrades recommended by the architectural and engineering report include installing fire suppression systems (sprinklers) throughout, eliminating water intrusion, brick pointing, wood trim repair, window replacement, and enhanced security and accessibility. Renovation Preview We hope to begin renovations to the Chapter House in spring 2026. Our goal is to schedule most of the renovation work during breaks in the academic calendar to minimize interference with the undergraduate brotherhood's enjoyment of the house. These improvements are critically important from risk management, university administration relations, general stewardship, and historic preservation perspectives, and they will ensure the Xi experience continues to be available to future generations of Wesleyan students. The scope, timing, and cost of the recommended renovation work will be further outlined at the October 25 Chapter meeting. Thank You! Special thanks to Jeff Phelon '82 (newly elected treasurer of the Xi Corporation) and Benjie Messinger-Barnes '09 (secretary) for their continued tireless work on behalf of the Xi.
