In the past, alumni engagement was minimal—often limited to donation requests when the chapter needed financial support. Once the funds were raised, communication typically faded. Recently, a transformation has occurred! Alumni involvement spanning multiple generations is now stronger than ever in our chapter's history. Over the past three years, dedicated AO volunteers have worked closely with officers, brothers, and pledges, leading to remarkable achievements. We invite you to save the date and join us for our 100-Year Celebration on September 20, 2025, where you'll witness firsthand the incredible transformation of our fraternity—from significant house improvements to consistently outstanding academic success. Most importantly, you'll experience the deep gratitude for how we, as alumni, stepped up during challenging times, forging a partnership that is now stronger than ever. A key milestone in this progress is the reformation of the Alumni Advisory Board, a testament to the recognition of our alumni engagement by the fraternity's national leadership. Highlights of the AAB have been shared in recent editions of The Oracle. Future editions of The Oracle will continue spotlighting key individuals and alumni boards— including the AO Housing Corporation, AO Educational Foundation, Inc., and elected High Pi— detailing their roles, time spent on their boards, and opportunities for alumni to get involved. Your continued support and participation make all the difference. If you're thinking about joining a board or committee, jump in! Send a note to aoalumniboard@gmail.com to get involved and explore the many different opportunities available. We look forward to celebrating this incredible journey together! There are plenty of opportunities. We look forward to celebrating this incredible journey together. AO Succeeds When Alumni Lend a Hand O ur beloved chapter house was completed and first occupied in September 1925. It stands as the oldest continuously occupied single-fraternity house at IU. The original Articles of Incorporation were signed by AO Housing Corporation's first president, Lloyd Claycomb. Over the past 100 years, more than 2,700 AO brothers have called this house home, creating lifelong memories—some unforgettable, some better left untold. We arrived as 18-year-old kids and left four years later as men. Our experiences at 1210 E. 3rd Street shaped our lives, from meeting future wives at sorority exchanges to countless firsts. But above all, what binds us together is the lifelong brotherhood we forged within these walls—a tradition that continues today for 140 undergraduate brothers. The AO Housing Corporation, led by a board of six alumni, oversees the management and financial stability of the chapter house. Today, around 60 brothers live in the house, which remains structurally sound and is regularly inspected by engineers and maintained by the same construction firm responsible for IU's iconic buildings. While a major renovation took place in the mid-1990s, the house is due for key upgrades. This summer, we plan a major kitchen renovation, including adding a canopy over the patio that serves as the kitchen ceiling. Windows are being evaluated for potential replacement, and while the house still relies on steam and hot water radiators for heating, it lacks central air conditioning—both significant future investments. This winter, we made several cosmetic improvements, including installing new TVs, upgrading conference room chairs, re-covering the pool table, repairing and enhancing the basketball fence, adding new outdoor furniture, and pouring a new concrete front porch. As we approach our 100th Anniversary Celebration this September 20, we encourage all brothers to return to the place that shaped us. We honor our past and build for the future— ensuring the next 2,700 AO brothers will continue our legacy. Bloomington native Mary Conner, daughter of a former IU professor, is the talented artist behind this beautiful depiction of our home. We will have signed and numbered 11x14" prints available at future events for a donation. Your Involvement Makes All the Difference 100 YEARS AT 1210 E. 3RD 100 YEARS AT 1210 E. 3RD
