The 62nd National Convention, held July 12-14, was a time of excitement, sisterhood and renewal. More than 800 women attended the convention and, of those, 305 were voting delegates. National President Lynne Herndon said she hoped attendees would be "energized to race forward with Alpha Chi Omega." Alpha Nu initiates in attendance included Kristin Donnell '08 (convention choir leader), Amanda Farrer Martel '13, Mary Carter Duncan Martin '92 (Foundation trustee), Carla Henke Mattson '68, Bev Wood Nichols '75 (president of Mu Mu, Kansas City), Addison Schulte '22 (Alpha Nu Chapter president), Erin Clouatre West '00 (Alpha Chi Omega staff) and Mary Ann Eggers Beahon '65. Reunion Night: A Time to Show School Spirit On Friday evening, sisters dined with others who were initiated at the same chapter. Everyone was encouraged to wear their school colors or shirts from their college/university of initiation and decorate their tables with pennants and pompoms. National Chapter Meetings Held on July 13 and 14, the first day everyone was asked to wear white, and the agenda included the State of the Enterprise Address, National Council election, National Nominating Committee election and award recognition. 2024 Alumnae Individual Awards Bev Wood Nichols '75 received the Alumnae Appreciation Award, which recognizes an alumna who has provided sustained and outstanding service to Alpha Chi Omega faithfully and unselfishly through the years. 2024 Alumnae Chapter Awards Sigma Sigma, St. Louis: National Council Trophy This is presented to the alumnae chapter that best exemplifies the ideals and mission of Alpha Chi Omega through its accomplishments in all areas of alumnae chapter development. To be considered for the National Council Trophy, the alumnae chapter must complete the National Council Trophy application and submit at least four Seeking the Heights award applications. Mu Mu, Kansas City: Seeking the Heights Award Innovation This is presented to chapters that demonstrate exceptional creativity and adaptability in their operations, programming and/or leadership initiatives. Mu Mu, Kansas City: Seeking the Heights Award Philanthropy This is presented to chapters that have shown outstanding commitment to philanthropic and service endeavors at the local and national level. Theta Kappa Theta, Springfield: Seeking the Heights Award Promoting Alpha Chi Everyday (PACE) This is presented to chapters that go above and beyond to share the value of the alumnae chapter experience through communication, branding and marketing, web and social media presence, Alumnae Panhellenic involvement and more. Ritual Sunday, the National Council on Ritual made its report at the National Chapter Meeting, with voting following. Revisions to ceremonies were recommended to ensure members feel a sense of belonging, as well as respected and included. Some of the adjustments include: • No longer requiring members to stand throughout ceremonies if uncomfortable or physically challenging and eliminating kneeling. • Changing language to be more inclusive of people with physical impairments, like sight, hearing, etc. • Revising language deemed to be outdated. Changes also were made to the Alumnae Initiation Ceremony, the Hall of Commitment, Initiation, the New Member Ceremony and Formal Opening and Closing Ceremonies for Alumnae and Collegiate Chapters. Common Bond, Uncommon Impact On July 9, 2022, Alpha Chi Omega Foundation launched a $30 million campaign to empower Real. Strong. Women. by providing funding to expand and improve programs, sustain collegiate chapter success, support individual members and continue the fight to prevent domestic violence. The Foundation announced during a luncheon on Sunday that $33,560,231 had been raised during the Common Bond, Uncommon Impact campaign. Other Convention Highlights Two optional excursions were offered on Friday, preceding the convention. One took sisters to DePauw University and Alpha Chapter; the other was a headquarters tour. There also were opportunities to participate in a service activity and attend an Indianapolis Indians baseball game. Educational Sessions were held throughout the weekend for collegiate, alumnae and house corporation volunteers. The Star Booth, which honors sisters through $10 tribute gifts, raised more than $250,000! Next Convention Be sure to mark your calendar for the 63rd National Convention!
