Lyre Notes Alpha Nu Chapter of ΑΧΩ at the University of Missouri Fall 2024 T he Local House Corporation Board met with the chapter board members last spring to learn what enhancements members would like the LHC to consider for summer work. Their list was well- thought-out and attainable! At the top was painting the main rooms a color that did not look cream or yellow, depending on the light. LHC Board Member Jeannine Brickley '81 recommended Benjamin Moore's color of the year, Revere Pewter, and it was the perfect choice for a neutral look. Members also wanted a refresh in the guest bathroom, so new wallpaper was hung, the bath chest was painted red to match the wallpaper and fixtures were upgraded to brushed gold. It's an adorable bathroom with a new vibe! Members have been asking for a new chandelier in the formal room for several years, but we were challenged with finding a chandelier that was 50" wide and only 18" deep. We finally found a chandelier that met the dimensions and style we were searching for—and it's gorgeous! The dining room was becoming cluttered with appliances on folding tables, including multiple air fryers and toasters accommodating gluten-free needs, allergies, etc. The LHC purchased a six-foot marble top buffet to hold the appliances with room for food prep and storage cabinets below. The buffet matches the existing cabinets in the kitchenette area, providing a cleaner and overall nicer look and feel. The study room chairs were starting to break, so replacing all 22 became a priority. Members wanted chairs that could easily be moved on rollers and something more comfortable. We found white leather chairs with arms and rollers. The new chairs are not only super comfortable but also very stylish. We also purchased two standing desks that adjust with the touch of button to various heights and have an open base for a walking pad/desk treadmill. The study room is now being used more and loved. The normal summer work projects, consisting of inspections, routine maintenance and deep cleaning, were completed without a hitch. Currently, the kitchen needs a new convection oven, and we are working with contractors to install a new gas line, extend the vent and install the new oven. If you're in Columbia, feel free to stop by the house! You will enjoy meeting our amazing sisters and swapping stories. We welcomed Melinda Trujillo as our new house director in October, and she's been amazing. Loyally, Julie Erselius Abeln '84 President, Alpha Nu House Corporation In With the New!
