When she asked what they were doing there the woman driver said she had run out of gas. While talking to the driver, a man ran from the neighbor's yard and jumped into the vehicle. The two people then sped away. The vehicle was described as a blue and green lowered 1970s pickup. The man had numerous tatoos. der. Brief history: Defendant was arrested and charged with the murder of a 14 year old victim who had been reported missing when she never returned home from school. Officers located the victim's body two days later. Preliminary Hearing: October 2, 2013 at 9 a.m. in Department 3. Recent County Jail Commitments: 1. TCSO - People vs. Jose Guadalupe Moreno, Transportation of a Controlled Substance with Special Allegation Prior Felony; Grand Theft of Lost Property; Failure to Appear on Own Recognizance with Special Allegation Offense While on Bail or O.R. Brief history: A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by defendant. Inside the vehicle the deputy located methamphetamine. Officers responded to defendant's residence to serve a search warrant. On defendant's property officers located two large propane tanks that had been reported stolen. Defendant was released from custody on his own recognizance and failed to appear in court as required. Sentenced to 120 days county jail. 2. CPD - People vs. Cresencio Angel Corona Jr., Carrying a Dirk or Dagger. Brief history: Officers drove by a residence and observed defendant and other subjects acting nervous. Officers made contact with the subjects and observed a baggie of methamphetamine and a methamphetamine smoking pipe on the ground. Officers also found defendant in possession of a fixed blade knife and was subsequently taken into custody. Sentenced to 60 days county jail. • Someone at the Valero gas station on Edith Avenue in Corning reported about 6:15 a.m. Thursday that a bald man in a gray sweatshirt and white pants was bothering customers, asking for money and making the clerk nervous. Nevin Smith was contacted, admonished for trespassing and advised to move along. Theft • Someone reported they saw two people in a white Chevrolet S10 pickup strip wire off of a pole in front of the old mill on Diamond Avenue. • A radiator for an irrigation pump was stolen near Aramayo Way and the railroad tracks. • A woman reported Thursday that her 17year-old son had a stereo face plate and Ipod stolen from his unlocked vehicle parked on North Street in Corning between midnight and 6 a.m. • A man reported Thursday the theft of his black 16GB Ipad 2 in a black leather case, valued at $400, and his black, handheld, JVC camcorder, worth about $270, taken from his unlocked vehicle on Rio Grande Ct. in Corning between 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
