KAPPA KAPPA GAMMA 3 Paige Kuhn '10 Thankful for the KKΓ Sisterhood P aige Kuhn '10 served on chapter council as the Panhellenic delegate and the vice president of organization. Paige was a true leader for the ladies of Kappa Kappa Gamma and represented the chapter with grace throughout campus. She was extremely involved in ZonaZoo Crew as she served as anchor for CatNation and the media director. She also interned for Arizona Athletics Communications. The roles she played in Kappa Kappa Gamma, ZonaZoo Crew, and Arizona Athletics shaped her into the woman she is today and helped her find her career path. Paige now resides in northern California and works as an associate editor at Bleacher Report in San Francisco. She has always had a passion for sports and thrives at her job! As an alumna member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, the memories and friendships Paige made have stayed with her and will last a lifetime. Her favorite Kappa memories include meeting her best friends on Bid Day and living in the house together. When I asked Paige what Kappa sisterhood means to her, she said, "It means always having someone who is there for you no matter what. Life has its highs and lows, and I have found that the friends I met in Kappa are the friends I can always count on no matter how much time passes." Paige embodies the beauty of Gamma Zeta sisterhood and inspires all of us with everything that she has accomplished. Profile by Kenzie Frank '18, Public Relations Chairman G amma Zeta Chapter couldn't be more proud of or thankful for our sister, Mary Jane Jackson Crist '66. Her decades of devotion and commitment to Kappa Kappa Gamma are a testament to our sisterhood. In recognition of her service, Mary Jane has been named the 2020 recipient of the Foundation for Fraternal Excellence Outstanding Volunteer Award. Since the 1980s, before the foundation was officially formed, Mary Jane was involved in development for Kappa Kappa Gamma. She was among the first board of trustees in the early 1990s and is still an active volunteer, serving as vice president. She also is the organization's largest single donor, contributing more than $1 million in gifts. "Her impact is measurable in dollars, but it's hard to imagine a Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation even existing without Mary Jane's extraordinary volunteerism and generosity," said Maggie Sims Coons, Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation Executive Director. Known for inspiring others and for her leadership and philanthropic efforts, Mary Jane is also being honored as a Women of Impact by the Phoenix Panhellenic Association. Thank you, Mary Jane, for all you have done and continue to do for Kappa! Outstanding Volunteer Award A Well Deserved Honor for Mary Jane W e hope all the alumnae reading this are staying safe and healthy. In keeping with the rest of campus, members of Kappa Kappa Gamma moved to online learning for the rest of the spring semester, and the majority of members moved out of the chapter house. The Gamma Zeta Building Association officially closed the facility on May 15 and will continue to follow the University's guidance when making decisions regarding the fall 2020 semester. Despite these uncertain times, it was a strong semester and school year with many individual Gamma Zeta sisters making their mark at UA. Cassandra Tomchak '17 was named Panhellenic Chapter President of the Year for 2019, and I was accepted into the Bobcats Honorary. This is arguably the most prestigious individual honor on campus, and I will be in good company with several former Gamma Zeta presidents who were also Bobcats. Additionally, Kappa was recognized as a Chapter of Excellence for 2019. This past school year was also strong in terms of grades and philanthropy, of course. In the fall, we ranked third of all sororities on campus with a GPA of 3.44, and our new member GPA came in second at 3.53. We ended the year with a spring GPA of 3.785 for the chapter. Of course, we would like to congratulate the class of 2020! We're so proud of you and can't wait to see where your beautiful lives take you. Forever blue and blue. We are cautiously optimistic to see how the fall semester will play out for Gamma Zeta and the University of Arizona as a whole. Once it is safe to do so again, we look forward to having alumnae visiting the chapter house. You are all in our thoughts.
