Allie was a chapter president at Gamma Zeta and instrumental in getting the Green Valley Kappa group together. Nadene Rykken Hicks '55 entered Chapter Eternal on August 22, 2019. She shared 62 years of marriage with her husband, Ford. They had two children, three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Nadene spent her career teaching elementary education in the Tucson Unified School District. She was active in PEO and enjoyed playing bridge with friends. ALUMNAE NEWS Elizabeth "Tao" Sykes Real '49 shares that her husband, Manuel, passed away last summer. He was the longest active serving federal judge in the United States with his 52 years on the bench. Tao has nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She lives in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. Eleanor "Dee" Dieterle Lee '54 enjoys painting watercolors after studying art for several years. She takes many workshops and has traveled to France, Italy, Spain, and Ireland for workshops. Dee tries to paint en plein air but finds it too difficult with a bad back. In her retirement, she also enjoys playing golf in two leagues in the summer and belongs to a croquet group where they play competitively. Dee lives in Tucson January through May and in Mequon, Wis., the rest of the year. Email: deelee1966@aol.com Barbara Engel Anderson '59 enjoyed Gamma Zeta's 100-year celebration. She is proud of her sister-in-law, Lynn Johnson Engel '73, who worked on the committee and is raising funds for the chapter house. Barbara shares, "The chapter room and house are fabulous. She was first elected in 1996 and is now the chairwoman of the House Judiciary Committee. Gail was sorry to miss the 100th anniversary celebration due to being in a legislative session. Jerelyn loves to travel, play golf and bridge, and be active in her book club. She lives in Centennial, Colo. Dede is active in theater as an actress for professional theaters in the Akron, Ohio, area. After retiring, Patty has remained active as a long-term care Ombudsman, ensuring that human rights are met by facilities caring for the elderly. She is also involved in supporting her favorite local dance troupe, Body Vox. Patty got married in 2008 and has one daughter, three step-daughters, and two grandchildren. She currently enjoys freelance writing and editing and works as a graphic artist. Her life has included extension international travel; now it's mostly between NYC and her family's home in Arizona. Carrie Courter Blanton '87 resides in Issaquah, Wash., with her husband, Will, and their dog, Duke. She's celebrating 20 years working at her family-owned business, Honda Auto Center of Bellevue and Honda of Kirkland, as real estate director and chief asset officer. She and her husband are recent empty nesters; Carrie enjoys working out, walking and hiking with her dog, spending time with her husband, traveling, and wine tasting. She's also an active member of the St. Louis Catholic Church.
