4A Daily News – Wednesday, May 1, 2013 Commerce business&enterprise Crawdad Festival around the corner Chairwoman's Corner Exhausted is a good word to describe most of us after the 11 Days of Round Up. What a great time to be a part of this community. The Chamber revived the Cowboy Golf Tournament which ended up being sold out and a huge hit. We've learned a few things that need tweaking for next year but we are definitely looking forward to keeping this tradition going. Thanks to the chamber staff who worked tirelessly on the golf tournament, Round-Up Parade, the mixer at Reynolds Ranch and Cowboy Coffee, just to name a few. Now that the Round-Up is over, on to the Well-Being Fair, Relay For Life, Crawdad Festival and our Fourth of July Fireworks. And it doesn't end there. This community has many wonderful activities for the whole family. If you ever think there is nothing to do here, just check out the chamber website community calend a r . Please join us every month at a different business for Good Morning, Red Bluff. This month we'll be meeting at the City Council Chambers. I would also highly recommend that you get involved in fundraising for the Fourth of July Fireworks. We still don't have enough funds to make this event happen and it won't be anyone's fault except our own if we go without a fire- May Madness Courtesy photo Slim Clickens made an appearance last week at the Red BluffTehama County Chamber's Good Morning, Red Bluff hosted by the Daily News. For two weeks in February businesses collected canned food and dry goods to be donated to Tehama County Food Bank to be distributed. It was a huge success and "Food from the Heart" became an annual event. In its second year "Food from the Heart" generated 8,000 pounds of food for our local hungry. In 2012 this project went city wide and 77 businesses stepped up and collected over 4,000 pounds of food. Realizing that it took $3,700 in donated advertising to collect the 4,000 pounds and wanting to provide the most nutritious food possible and help the most people, the DRBBA turned "Food from the Heart" over to The Community Action Agency and Tehama County Food Share. Through these agencies food can be purchased at $18 for 100 pounds of food therefore Food from the Heart became a fund drive. The Gold Exchange has partnered with TCAA and TCFS to take the Food from the Heart fund drive County wide. We are seeking 250 generous Tehama County businesses to display a collection jar June 16 through the 30 and commit to raising $100 for the purchase of food. All funds raised will be evenly distributed throughout participating Tehama County Hunger Relief Charities for food procurement. • Senator Nielsen's Mobile Office – 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, May 3 at Corning City Hall, 794 3rd St., Jim Nielsen's staff will be on hand to serve constituents of the Fourth Senate District and to answer questions and provide help dealing with state agencies, legislation or other state related matters.
