Omicron Chapter of Alpha Phi 3 J ust as we eagerly await the return of warm spring air in Columbia, the members of Alpha Phi look forward to the excitement of many new beginnings in the next decade. The next 10 years are going to offer many beautiful things for Omicron, and I am honored to be in this position for the start of that exciting time. I'd like to express my gratitude to all of you for being such an important part of our sisterhood. Leading the Way at Alpha Phi The new executive board and I started the year by going to Washington, D.C., for the annual Alpha Phi Leadership Conference. The weekend was filled with bonding, learning, and engaging time with sisters from the southern and eastern regions. I am excited to implement the new leadership skills I learned to ensure the rest of this term will be a great one. Recruitment, Sisterhood Retreat Highlight Fun Fall Semester We started the fall semester with a very successful recruitment process. We now have 85 newly initiated freshmen in our chapter. After we were comfortable with our fall schedules, we took a quick and eventful trip to St. Louis for our annual sisterhood retreat. Former VP of Membership Education and Programming Alexis Livingston '17 planned a busy weekend. We are still the only chapter on Mizzou's campus that has this privilege, which keeps us unique, especially during recruitment. Strengthening Bonds with Alumnae and the Mizzou Greek Community Omicron House Director Christy Garnett greeted a variety of alumnae during football season. Every gameday, she set up refreshments and had a guest book for alumnae to sign. Near the end of football season, members took a break from wearing black and gold outfits to bring out their Halloween costumes and participate in the Greektown Trick or Treat event. The men of Beta Theta Pi came over to pass out candy to children who dropped by our house. A Different Second Semester As you probably know, due to the Coronavirus, Mizzou moved all classes online in mid-March. In response to public health recommendations, Alpha Phi and other chapter houses closed for the remainder of the semester. As spring break began our members headed homeward, where most are completing the term remotely. We look forward to returning to campus in the fall and enjoying chapter events which were postponed this spring. Relishing the Alpha Phi Precious Moments Our members love and cherish all the memories they have of Alpha Phi, and we look forward to the memories we will create in the future. More exciting things are in store for Omicron!
