W hile there's still a chill in the air, it's hard to imagine that plans for formal fall recruitment are already underway at Omicron. Parties start on August 16 and the formal process ends on Bid day, August 22. Recommendations are welcome as far in advance as possible and until July 15. Those received by July 1 are most helpful to ensure adequate attention before the start of formal recruitment. Alpha Phi's online recommendation form can be accessed at alphaphi.org/recommendation and the hard copy form can be downloaded from tinyurl.com/uppv8h6. You can mail hard copy recommendation forms to the chapter house at 906 S. Providence Road, Columbia, MO 65203. Alpha Phi diligently ensures legacies and recommendations are given extra consideration during the recruitment process. We respect the tradition of membership, but do not guarantee membership to any legacy. Alpha Phi defines a legacy as any granddaughter, great-granddaughter, daughter, stepdaughter, sister, or stepsister of an initiated Alpha Phi member. All legacies will be invited to the first invitational round of recruitment on campuses with more than one invitational event. Any Alpha Phi legacy who accepts Alpha Phi's invitation to a preference party must be placed on the chapter's first bid list. A chapter must have the approval of the Chapter Advisor or her designee to release a legacy. Some potential new members may report their legacy status to the Panhellenic Council. It is ultimately up to the alumna member to notify the chapter of a legacy, not the potential new member or the Panhellenic Council. Alumnae will not receive any information about the status of any potential new member or information on the membership selection process. All membership selection decisions are strictly confidential at the chapter level and will not be shared with alumnae.
