SIGMA CHI FRATERNITY • OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY • FALL 2019 Inside • Alumnus Spotlight ~ p. 2 • Chapter Report ~ p. 3 • Welcome, New Members ~ p. 3 • Alumni News ~ p. 4 The Sig Scroll A HOPEFUL FUTURE FOR GAMMA DELTA T here is much to be proud of at the Gamma Delta Chapter this fall. We have welcomed another stellar class of high-caliber young men and the Chapter's grades continue to improve and rank among the best on campus. Quite a departure I'm sure from when we were all in the house! Every time I visit, I'm impressed by the young men that I interact with; they are enriching the legacy of the Chapter, and we should all applaud their efforts. As you are probably aware, the Greek system at OSU is experiencing a bit of an arms race regarding housing. Many fraternities, and a few sororities, are building or planning to build new houses. The House Corporation board has begun a very preliminary process about how we might improve our facility. The house has seen nearly 40 years of hard living, with only a basic remodel over 10 years ago. This is an opportunity to stay competitive among the Greek community. We recently acquired the old Pike house, to our immediate southwest, which gives us flexibility in planning what comes next. There is no rush to get this done, but the wheels are beginning to turn, and I think it is appropriate that our alumni are aware. It is critical that we are very thoughtful and deliberate in this important process. There will be much more communicated about this in the months, and maybe years, ahead. If you would like to learn more about this new house or volunteer, please reach out to me! In hoc, Whit Culver '01 President, Gamma Delta House Corporation whit_culver@ml.com I am pleased to report on the progress of our campaign to raise an additional $1,000,000 for the Gamma Delta of Sigma Chi Endowed Scholarship at the Oklahoma State University Foundation. We are accomplishing this by raising $400,000 that will be matched by $600,000 from the fund's founders, Randy White '63, John Clerico '63, Joe Porter '64, Jay Helm '70, Jimmy Kuykendall '87, and Gregg Massey '87. We are so grateful for their support. Goal: Raise $130,000 by December 31 Thank you to those alumni who have stepped up in support of our challenge. You are making a positive impact on the lives of young men at Oklahoma State and we are very grateful. Our campaign to raise $400,000 for the scholarship will end on December 31, 2019. We have raised over $270,000 in a few short months, but we need to raise $130,000 to hit our goal. With your support, our endowment will grow. How to Donate Gifts to the Sigma Chi Endowed Scholarship Fund (#34-88950) may be: • Mailed to Oklahoma State University Foundation, 400 S.
