4A – Daily News – Tuesday, June 8, 2010 Veterans Appreciation Day, Walk of Gratitude Saturday The public is invited to join veterans, friends and family at Downtown Red Bluff’s second annu- al Veterans Appreciation Day and Walk of Grati- tude event Saturday, June 12. Military Support Families are putting on a pan- cake breakfast for a $5 donation with all of the pro- ceeds going to send care packages to Tehama County service members. Breakfast begins at 7 a.m. on the 600 block of Washington Street in front of the court house. Joining and participating in the day’s activities will be Red Bluff Young Marines, Rose Marie Hammer will leading in singing the national anthem, the Red Bluff Community Band and local fiddlers will join in the festivities. This year’s speakers are Red Bluff Mayor Jeff Moyer, businessman Bill Moule and Mason Richard Whitlock. After Moyer’s welcoming address and tribute to Korean War Veterans, Moule will share his family’s trials from being held cap- tive in Camp Holmes, a Japanese internment camp in the Philippines during WWII. Whitlock is rep- resenting the California Masons’ Operation Great- est Gift, which provides trips for WWII Veterans wishing to visit the memorial in Washington DC. Families are invited to make posters of tribute to their veterans and downtown businesses will hang these tributes in store front windows during June’s patriotic days.
