Alumnae should be approached in person about serving in a specific capacity, and
the job description should include the expected obligation and a clear time
commitment. The alumna should be provided with an explanation of the value she
will bring to the board as it pertains to her individual experience and background.
The alumnae leaders, specifically the house corporation and advisory board
members, will be approached first in a campaign and asked to make a financial
commitment to the fundraising effort, setting the tone for the remaining
constituency. There is a sense of confidence created when those who are most
closely involved with their chapter make a financial contribution and demonstrate
full support for a campaign.
D. Alumnae relations program assessment
This section of the feasibility study analyzes Delta Xi Chapter's alumnae relations
program, including alumnae communications and events.
The house corporation has used Pennington & Company's alumnae newsletter
services since 2013. During these years, Delta Xi has consistently mailed two
editions of their alumnae newsletter, Crescent News, annually. These
communications have included alumnae spotlights, campaign updates, alumnae
news highlighting personal and professional achievements, alumnae board updates,
and undergraduate chapter news.
A comprehensive alumnae relations program with regular communication and
personal contact among the total membership is essential to any chapter.
Pennington & Company recommends alumnae continue to receive two newsletters
and a biographical update each year. The newsletters should focus on a mixture of
undergraduate content and alumnae news, including chapter updates and news,
notifications and recaps of alumnae events, alumnae spotlights, and individual
alumna updates and class notes. Sharing these updates and successes is needed to
