THE BEARCAT SIG Zeta Psi Chapter of Sigma Chi at The University of Cincinnati V Spring 2019 EXCITING DEVELOPMENTS TO STRAIGHT STREET Sean Lee '09 Steps Down as House Corporation President A s we close out the 2018-19 school year, Zeta Psi Chapter remains strong. The men added a new spring member class of five brothers, and they continue to be recognized as leaders of men on campus. We look forward to sending the chapter to the Leadership Training Workshop this summer through the Bell Chapter designation. MASSIVE BUILDING PROJECTS PLANNED NEAR CHAPTER HOUSE Times they are a changing… I believe that's how the old Bob Dylan song went. Our previously sleepy side of campus is being re-energized by a massive development project by Trinitas out of Indianapolis. Across from the house, 1,000 new student housing plots are coming available for the fall of 2020. There are also plans to make Straight Street an entertainment district up to Clifton Avenue with retail, restaurants, apartments, offices, and a hotel. The Zeta Psi house will be in the middle of all the action over the next five to 10 years. It's an exciting time. PASSING THE TORCH In House Corporation news, I am stepping down after two years as president of the House Corporation. It has been an honor to serve as the fundraising chairman and then president. With the birth of my daughter and the start of our new family, it's time to take a step back and pass the torch. Steve Knight '74 will be stepping in as interim president for the 2019-20 school year as we search for a permanent president. If you are interested in getting involved, please email alumni@ zetapsisigs.com. Looking back over the past two years, we've raised $78,000 for the Pavey Foundation and House Corporation. This is a remarkable effort considering we didn't do much fundraising over the past 10-15 years. I am so inspired and humbled by your efforts to ensure the Zeta Psi chapter house and educational programs are maintained for years to come. We can't stop now. Our house is aging and annual maintenance is getting more and more expensive. ALUMNI SUPPORT NEEDED FOR SUMMER RENOVATIONS This summer, we are focusing on necessary renovations to keep the house respectable. We will be replacing the drop ceiling in the party room and upgrading major items as needed. For example, most of the hot water heaters in the dorm wing are coming up on their 20-year usable lifespan. We've set our 2019 annual fund goal at $30,000. Please join me in donating by visiting donate.zetapsisigs.com or mailing a check to Lincoln W. Pavey Educational Foundation, P.O. Box 42605, Blue Ash, OH 45242. Checks should be made out to "The Sigma Chi Building Co." for house improvements (preferred and non-tax deductible) or to the "LWPEF" for leadership programs (tax deductible). We must ensure the bonds of Sigma Chi Zeta Psi brotherhood stay strong and that we provide the same opportunity to the undergraduates that we all enjoyed and benefitted from. In Hoc Signo Vinces, Sean M. Lee '09 House Corporation President Emeritus alumni@zetapsisigs.com Generations of Sigma Chi reconnect at this year's CincySigs holiday party. Alumni reconnect at Zeta Psi over Homecoming weekend.
