III. Summary of Findings
A. Attitude and perception of Pi Beta Phi and today's Greek system
Minnesota Alpha alumnae interviewed for the feasibility study were asked several
questions concerning their attitudes and perception of the chapter, as well as the
Greek system as a whole. The answers to these questions are summarized in the
following paragraphs.
Interviewees were asked to share how Minnesota Alpha influenced their lives.
Many alumnae spoke highly of their sorority experience at the University of
Minnesota and referenced the lifelong friendships they made while living in the
chapter house. Alumnae also mentioned the importance of the chapter house in
building relationships and community. A 1970s alumna said, "I have no fonder
memories than the couches in the living room and meals in the dining room."
As shown in Chart A, 91% of interviewees are "Very Interested" or "Interested"
in Minnesota Alpha today. This is an above-average level of interest compared to
other feasibility studies completed by Pennington. This shows Minnesota Alpha
has remained relevant to alumnae long after graduation. A high level of interest in
the sorority can correlate to financial and volunteer participation in a capital
campaign.
