Alumnae relations program assessment This section of the feasibility study analyzes Minnesota Alpha's alumnae relations program, including alumnae communications and events. Historically, Minnesota Alpha relied on email communication and Pi Beta Phi alumnae clubs to communicate with alumnae members. No information was collected during the study to indicate that the undergraduate chapter or chapter volunteer boards send regular written or electronic communication. This was further evidenced by the lack of knowledge about the chapter from the general alumnae membership. It is critical that Minnesota Alpha create and maintain a strong alumnae relations program to better serve and engage alumnae. A comprehensive alumnae relations program with regular communication and personal contact among the entire membership is essential. Pennington & Company recommends alumnae receive two newsletters and a biographical update each year. The newsletters should focus on a mixture of undergraduate content and alumnae news. These publications should include chapter updates and news, notifications and recaps of alumnae events, and alumnae spotlights and class notes (individual alumna updates and notes). Sharing these updates and successes is needed to help alumnae feel more knowledgeable about and connected to Minnesota Alpha, thus increasing their level of confidence in the chapter and their willingness to offer support in a campaign. Seventy to seventy-five percent of the newsletter should focus on alumnae content. The biographical update is a useful tool not only in updating contact information, but also in gathering constituent news. This demonstrates that the chapter values its alumnae, their involvement, and their input. Pi Beta Phi at the University of Minnesota is represented on a variety of social media and electronic platforms. Minnesota Alpha maintains a website, (umn.pibetaphi.org). The website has photos of current chapter members, information on how to join Minnesota Alpha, facts about Pi Beta Phi, and philanthropy facts. The chapter maintains a social media presence on Facebook and
