p. 2 OREGON BETA HEARTBEAT DAN STALIE '87 STEPS UP FOR OREGON BETA By Mark Boersma '87 D an Stalie '87 has always been known for his outstanding work ethic and can-do attitude. While living at the Chapter House from 1984 through 1987, he held numerous positions related to keeping the physical structure clean, presentable, and well maintained. He was house manager for several terms. In this job he held live-in members accountable for fulfilling their house duties and was the go-to guy for all repairs and improvements. Dan was (and is) a formidable physical presence, starring in football at South Salem High School, winning the campus "smoker" boxing tournament in the heavyweight division, and winning the intramural heavyweight wrestling championship more than once. He is also accomplished in several martial arts, especially judo. All of this, plus his outgoing personality, made Dan very effective in motivating his brothers to keep the house in tip-top shape! When the new members of the Oregon Beta AVC were elected in 2017, we were looking for someone local in Eugene to help organize and manage Chapter House improvement projects. Dan remained in Eugene after college and is tied in with the local construction industry as an estimating manager for Knife River, a large construction company. He was a natural for the job! Dan is extremely busy with work and family, but when asked to help he stepped up and accepted the role without hesitation. Dan's efforts over the summer were truly unparalleled, as he volunteered countless hours coordinating the projects to bring new life to the Chapter home. This is extremely important as Oregon Beta moves forward in the process of becoming a top fraternity on campus and nationwide. Thank you for everything you've done and are currently doing, Dan. All Oregon Beta alumni owe you a huge debt of gratitude! Parker Aiken Long Beach, Calif. Max Asevedo Bend, Ore. Noah Bell Manhattan Beach, Calif. Aaron Benhamou Walnut Creek, Calif.
