He was the son of the late Dr. Newel H. Comish and Louise Larson Comish. Dr. Comish was predeceased by his loving wife of 68 years, Hilda. He is survived by their children, grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter, along with many nieces and nephews. Dr. Comish was predeceased by two sisters, Dr. Alison Thorne and Elaine Scott, and by a brother, Conrad Comish. Elvan "Pit" Pitney '50 entered Chapter Eternal on January 25 at age 93. He grew up on his family's Century Farm in Junction City. A graduate of Junction City High and OSU, he also received a master's degree at PSU. He and Barbara McFadden met at OSU and were married December 28, 1947. They celebrated their 70th anniversary this year. Elvan taught at North Marion High and then was the principal. Next, he became principal at Sherwood High School and then the first Sherwood District superintendent. He served there until his retirement. Pit and Barbara enjoyed retirement by gardening, traveling the world, a beach house in Waldport and volunteering. Caring for family was central to Pit's life. He was actively involved with his four children, 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. His Christian faith and Sherwood Methodist Church were of utmost importance to him. Alan Bruce Hicks '52 entered Chapter Eternal on March 7, 2018. Alumni News William John Deller '48 is very comfortable in an excellent retirement home in Everett, Wash., at age 96. "That's the physical age," he writes. "My internal age feels more like 56. Have a great year!" Richard Allen '58 has been elected chair of the American Medical Association (AMA) Senior Physicians Section. With nearly 58,000 members, the AMA Section is the largest senior physician group in the United States. Dick lives in Portland, Ore. E-mail: rloveness@aol.com Terry Gordon Hannon '60 graduated from the Northwestern School of Law at Lewis & Clark College in 1968 and served as a 50-year member of the Oregon State Bar. Mark lives in Salem, Ore. E-mail: mwulf5@comcast.net Robert Grant Heimbucher '66 has enjoyed travel and numerous cruises but is slowing down due to medical issues. He continues to volunteer through Kiwanis at Red Cross, food banks, Mt. Hood Camp for Disabled Children, Meals on Wheels, and Doernbecher Hospital. Robert and Aileen have two teenage grandkids, and they are hoping for more from their newlywed son and his wife from Iran. Robert lives in Portland, Ore. Having received his Oregon pioneer license, his new "job" is hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. Dave lives in Gresham, Ore. On October 28, 1978, Mike Kobelin '79 and members of his local jumping club parachuted into Autzen Stadium at halftime. Mike originally took skydiving as a PE course his freshman year; by graduation he had made nearly 300 jumps, was a certified Jump Master, and a member of the instructional staff for the Webfoot Skydiving Group. 2018 marks the 40th anniversary of his jump. He still has the pictured SigEp flag, which he sometimes displays at his house on game days. Mike lives in Portland, Ore.
