NOV. 2 Town of Quartzsite invites every- one to attend the next meeting of Neighborhood Watch at 6:00 PM, on THURSDAY, NOV. 2, 2017, at the Quartzsite Community Center, 295 E. Chandler. Chief William Ponce said he looks forward to working with the resi- dents to create a safer community. Launched in 1972, Neighbor- hood Watch counts on citizens to organize themselves and work with law enforcement to keep a trained eye and ear on their communities, while demonstrating their pres- ence at all times of day and night. Sponsored by the National Sher- iffs' Association (NSA), the Nation- al Crime Prevention Council says, "Neighborhood watch is one of the oldest and most effective crime prevention programs in the coun- try, bringing citizens together with law enforcement to deter crime and make communities safer." I hope you enjoy your stay with us! The fi rst of November is the beginning of the busy season with the opening of the Quartzsite Im- provement Assoc. (QIA) along with the start of music jams, and other happenings around town. As more visitors come to town, it's good for our locals to remember to be good to yourselves. Oops...I think I just wrote that for myself...ha! So much to do and so little time! One of the town's busy events for families was held last Saturday; the Town's Halloween party. The event was sponsored by the Town of Quartzsite and the Parks Board. There are so many people to thank for the success of the event that I don't want to leave out names, so I'll just say Wopila Tanka (Lakota for offering of great thanks) to all of you! To everyone who made donations, helped with decorat- ing, gave out treats for the kiddos, helped in the Haunted House or Community Center, to the judges and game helpers, served food, donated meals, discounted prizes/ food, baked all those cupcakes, or- ganized behind the scenes, ordered supplies, printed photos, and gave of your time and energy, I am for- ever grateful. Our community is amazing when it comes together for a purpose greater than our- selves. That's one thing Quartzsite is known for...our totally awesome volunteers! Locals and visitors alike share the joy of giving with others in this community. That's what makes Quartzsite great... and it always has been an amazing town, in my opinion! I love our little town in the sum- mer and I love our busy little city in the winter. Those of us who stay year-round have the best of both worlds... a bit warm summer, tho! Enjoy the Quartzsite experience where lifelong friends have been made while waiting in line for a good table or the next clerk. Say hi to your neighbor and ask, "Where are you from?" You may fi nd you have much in common...more than you think. Oh, yes, enjoy those amazing sunrises & sunsets, too! "Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend." ~ Albert Camus Craft Fair 1st Sat. of every month! Daily Activities! QIA 928-927-6325 235 E. Ironwood St., Quartzsite BINGO Opens at 5pm. Early Birds 6:30pm. Main7pm Concessions Available
