SEE FOOD BANK PAGE 10 ������ | S������ RAIN G�����-B��� SEE COUNCIL VACANCY PAGE 9 Quartzsite Council Member Hal Davidson resigns | S������ RAIN G�����-B��� Quartzsite, AZ - During the regular meeting of the Council on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 Quartzsite Town Council Member Hal Davidson announced to the public that it be his last meeting. Davidson submitted his formal resignation effective Octo- ber 27, 2017. In his letter to the mayor and council, Davidson said, "My other commitments have become too great for me to be able to fulfi ll the requirements of my position on the Council and I feel it is best for me to make room for someone with the time and energy to devote to the job." He continued, "It has been a pleasure being a part of the Council and serving the citizens continue these suc- cesses in the future of Quartzsite." Quartzsite Town Council held a special meeting Monday morning, October 30th, to discuss the process of fi lling of the vacancy. After returning from Executive Session, the Council approved the acceptance of applications of po- tential candidates and may conduct interviews of eligible applicants for appointment to the vacant Council posi- tion. Applications are due by 5:00pm Friday, Dec. 8th at Town Hall. The appointment would fi ll the position until the next regular scheduled election in November 2018. Food Bank renamed Carol's Cupboard Friends of the Quartzsite Food Bank will be hosting a Ribbon Cutting for the Food Bank on Nov 13 at noon. In honor of the late com- munity leader and council member Carol Kelley, the food bank building will now be known Carol's Cupboard. La Paz County Supervisors approved the new name of the pantry during their regular meeting of October 16. The food bank serves upwards of 500 people during the busy win- ter season was Carol's special project. She fought for services for the hungry for many years before her death in April. The Friends Of The Quartzsite Food Bank (FQFB) was started in 2015 because organiz- ers saw a need to help supplement
