Yndestad (25), passed away March 9, 2017 in Aspen, Colorado, due to complications after a six-year battle with a brain tumor. Kevin was born and raised in Naperville, Illinois. He is survived by his sister Kelly of Denver; his parents, Kurt and Laurie (Edger) of Naperville; grandparents, Loretta Edger of Sugar Grove, Illinois and Fred and Jackie Yndestad of Naperville; also Kristen ( Yndestad) and Joe Salerno of Sugar Grove, and Mike and Cathleen Edger of Phoenix, Arizona; cousins, Justin, Brian and Matthew Salerno, and his special friend, Kiley Little. Kevin was a 2009 graduate of Naperville North High School and attended Bradley University where he lived in the Theta Chi Fraternity House. Kevin loved working with the admissions department to recruit new students. He graduated from DePaul University in 2015 with a BS in Business and Leadership. While at NNHS, Kevin participated in cross- country, wrestling, water polo, track, junior/senior board, and he founded the bass fishing team with Coach Don Zedrow. He was named the NNHS Outstanding Senior in 2009. During high school and college, Kevin was active at Four Lakes Ski Area as a patroller, instructor, and junior racer. His role in the ski patrol lead to many deep friendships that sustained him through his battle with cancer. Kevin became an active advocate for pediatric cancer and pediatric brain tumor research efforts on a local and national level. He spoke at fundraising events for Lurie Children's Hospital and Northwestern Memorial Brain Tumor Institute. He was a member of the junior board for the national Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and attended the Ride for Kids and Starry Night events. He was an advocate for kids going through the cancer journey. He was a fundraiser, and he recruited sponsorships and instructors for the Colorado-based Shining Stars Foundation which organizes a ski camp in Aspen each year. Both organizations supported Kevin and his family during his cancer journey. Pediatric brain tumors account for 25% of all pediatric cancers today. Gamma Upsilon Chapter Eternal 2017 Graduation Class: 1993 Major: Computer Science After graduation, Brother Darin Petersen '93 found himself working as a software developer in the video game industry. For eight years, he worked on titles such as WCW Nitro and WCW Thunder for PlayStation, both hitting #1 in US sales in 1998. As his interest in games began to fade, he refocused efforts toward Windows development, which he is still involved with today. After receiving a Mr. Beer Kit in the early 90's, Darin discovered an interest in creating beers to suit the exact style and taste he preferred. He quickly grew his own home brewery, added kegging equipment, and even installed a tap system in his house. As Darin and his wife, Jill, began planning their next steps in life, they realized their shared interest in beer could lead to something more. Little did they know, this interest would snowball into a business called, Good Neighbor Brews. After a year of planning, purchasing, and gaining the proper licenses, on February 24, 2017 more than 600 people showed up for the grand opening of their brewery. Good Neighbor Brews, slyly coined by Jill after Darin provided samples to thirsty neighbors straight from his garage in the earlier days. The 6,400 square foot facility is located in the small city of Wylie, Texas and run by Darin, his wife, and several part-time employees. The brewhouse is a 10 barrel system (315 gallons per batch) with three fermenters allowing them to brew three batches concurrently.
