The Screenings A lpha Iota Chapter has had a fun and productive spring semester, improving our recruitment efforts, participation on campus, and academics endeavors. As a chapter, we were more involved with the St. Pat's celebration this year. Our efforts were rewarded by winning the Most Improved Organization trophy. We hosted a St. Pat's Pig Roast, which used to be an annual event but in recent years has failed to happen—this year we brought it back and it was very well received by the chapter and alumni. We've realized our desperate need to step up our recruitment. Dalton Reeves, Missouri State '15 from Sigma Pi National Headquarters visited us for PRO Day. He gave a very in-depth seminar on recruitment strategies and helped us identify our strengths and weaknesses. During PRO Day, we led 11 house tours, which hasn't happened in quite a few years. So far, our fall pledge class is looking promising, since we have quite a few bid cards extended and several already signed. At midterm, our chapter had a 3.19 GPA, with a handful of brothers earning a 3.5 GPA or higher. We hope to be in the top three fraternities for grades this semester. As a chapter, we have increased our social presence on campus and seen positive results. Our brotherhood is stronger than it has been in quite a few years and we are proving again and again that if we stand united then there are no obstacles we can't overcome. We revamped ACE week, which now includes a compliments and coffee event the Monday of ACE week to help the campus community battle the Monday blues, two community clean-up events, a faculty car wash, and a first responder's luncheon called First Come, First Serve to give back to all the first responders in the community. We are expecting well over a 100 guests from local law enforcement, fire and rescue departments, and EMTS. As the semester comes to a close, the chapter will be focusing on recruitment, scholarship, and ending the academic year on a good note with plans to achieve even more this fall. Fraternally, Greg Failes '17 Sage St. Pat's Recap A lpha Iota was happy to receive the most improved organization award. We have not participated competitively in many years, but this year we put effort into trivia, snake pits, and other miscellaneous games. Special shoutout to Steve Sanders '82, who was able to participate in his first street painters with his new jacket. Kyle Govro '18, who serves as Alpha Iota's junior representative on the St. Pat's board, coordinated an amazing concert, with Sick Puppies as the headliner, as well as organized several events and awarded trophies. Peter Doran '19 is the new representative and was happy to sell sweatshirts all week long.
